[KC Chiefs.com] Chiefs Chairman Clark Hunt announced on Saturday that former K Nick Lowery will be the 2009 inductee into the Chiefs Hall of Fame. The 39th member of this prestigious group, Lowery will be enshrined into the Chiefs Hall of Fame during festivities at Chiefs Alumni Weekend this fall.

Lowery is just the second kicker to be enshrined into the Chiefs Hall of Fame, joining K Jan Stenerud who was inducted in ’92. The three-time Pro Bowl performer established numerous Chiefs career and season records during his tenure.

    1. I remember Lowery’s field goal that help the Chiefs beat the Steelers in the wild card play-offs of the ’93 season in OT. That enabled the Chiefs to go down to Houston and beat them and snap their 11-game win streak (the game where Keith Cash TE went in for a touchdown and threw the ball at a poster that said “Buddy-ball”). AAAHHHHHH
They had Montana, Marcus Allen …. And then the Buffalo Bills gave Montana a concussion, and wrecked the Chiefs chances of a Super Bowl appearence that season. ONE WIN AWAY FROM THE SUPER BOWL. And then the Bills LOST a forth straight Super Bowl. Chiefs may not have been able to beat the Cowboys, but it would have been more exciting, not just for the Chiefs fans , but for the nation. Nick was a great kicker. Came in a clutch several times. Good Job Nick. Well deserved.

    3. As funny as it may sound, its been a long time coming. Maybe we should offer him a new contract. At today’s rates, he would probably make considerably more than when he played. Not to mention giving our kicking game some stability.

    5. I will never forget when he slapped the ball boy in NY for not keeping his balls warm. BLAHA! Funny. Don’t forget the way he yanked down his one bar and cleaned out his nose every time before he kicked.

    6. Lowery was a major A-Hole! He was a solid kicker but I’m not sure he deserves a Chiefs HOF induction. Is it just that we have to induct someone into the Team HOF every year?

    7. I think Andy-Holes like Andy O should be banned from being a chiefs fan. Nick the Kick was great and deserves every bit of credit he is going to receive. Andy O you’re an idiot. Maybe you can answer this question idiotically too, was Len Dawson great? What about Christian Okoye? Andy O maybe you should say DT doesn’t belong in the HOF…what a dumb-ass
