Sign Orlando Pace! This could be Willie Roaf part-2 for the Chiefs. People thought Roaf was on the steep downside of his career after some injuries, but ended up giving us 4 amazing years. If Pace stays healthy and looks great in camp, move Albert to RT. Pick up a guard in FA or late-ish draft pick and bring in a veteran WR (Holt? Harrison?) and our offense is set (assuming LJ stays and fill in the other low-level holes). Then spend most everything else on defense (i.e. top draft picks, sign a couple FAs).

AMEN. I like Pace. He still has a couple years in the tank. Bring him on and Holt. Then draft Curry and whamo, we are making history next season.

Another body hits the floor for camp

Holt over Harrison IMO though.

Pace and Holt would be fantastic pick ups. There may be something more to Pace’s release. I haven’t heard of any injury issues recently, but they might be there. These two also fit in the type of players that the Patriots have continually picked up over the last 10 years for several years of service prior to their retirement.

Pace missed a lot of time in 2006 and 2007. So far, it just seems to be a money move, i.e. making too much money for recent production. Perhaps they’re trying to get someone like Khalif Barnes as a much cheaper (and younger) replacement.

so I thought we were suppose to say what we thought about CB Travis Daniel and not orlando pace? I really dont know anything about this Daniel guy………although I do think Pace can still play.

I am just excited about this year coming up! I think we win at least 8 games and maybe surprise the league.

not a bad sign i suppose…young and can apparently tackle if nothing else and with such a young team you never know if someone can sneak in and play as your nickle or dime back. Im still on the Mike Furry train though…..still out there.

Pioli is playing the waiting game now, the longer he waits the cheaper players will get. But if he waits too long these players will go elsewhere. Look for most of his dealings to come just before or on draft day.
And dont be surprised if we trade our 3rd pick overall, or try to trade LJ to get that 2nd rounder back.
And the 57 million we had in cap space to begin the offseason, if im not wrong is probably closer to 35 million these days. So that means we might only be able to pick up one more big name guy, which explains why pioli keeps adding these younger/cheaper guys.

If we do bring pace in, why move albert? He has done a hell of a job where he is at. Tell pace to move, he’ll tear another muscle in his arm before week 4 anyway.
Comment by Irv24 — March 11, 2009 @ 11:30 am
As fine as a job as Albert did last year, he has yet to match the performance of a healthy Pace. Plus Albert is young, has proven versatility (Guard to Tackle), and has proven to be a relatively quick learner.
It also depends on what kind or RT this staff wants: a massive earth mover (Pace the larger of the two), or a more athletic type.
Either way, it’s not a dealbreaker. We could cross that bridge when we come to it.

Speed , speed , and more speed, to plug holes and to get to the QB, Its as easy as 1,2,3

Question is…….why is Croyle still around??? I would think that Pioli would want tough QB’s, not ones made out of paper mache’. I heard that today they released Gray. And on another note, has anyone heard from JD??? Kinda miss his commentaries.

I’m dying to know who our defensive coordinator is going to be, and if we will run the 3-4 defense. Now that’s the real question my Red Brothers.
P.s.- I hope we go with the 3-4

Daniels is a fast get to the ball corner. Good on getting to the carrier. And will bring some veteran leadership to this young team.
Comment by Kyle — March 12, 2009 @ 11:30 am
Dennis, I too am puzzled by the “cut Gray keep Broyle” decision. Too fragile even for a third-stringer…who knew we’d need our third-stringer last season, so, they better be more reliable than Croyle has been. Gray seemed tough, but who doesn’t next to Brodie? ‘Bama’s got an arm on him, but it’s useless in a sling on the sidelines. Any defense watching tape will know exactly what to do to Brodie if he’s ever holding the ball again…I was afraid of this:-(
Comment by Tammy H — March 12, 2009 @ 2:36 pm
Don’t know much at all about this daniels guy, but i agree with the fore mentioned suggestions. I like the idea of getting pace, a veteran wr, and i really hope we go to the 3-4. If we could just make a select few things happen we could really be dangerous next year. I just wish we’d drop croyle. He’s like fine china out there. All the comparisons of being a “gunslinger” like brett favre holds no water since favre played for a decade without missing a game and croyle can’t make it through 10 snaps. Please god let’s get some of these ideas done. It could make for a hell of a year.

chiefs signed LB Corey Mays, most likely for special teams help, as well as adding depth to our LB core.
Here’s his stats/info.
