[ESPN.com] Contrary to remarks by Kansas City owner Clark Hunt, Tony Gonzalez wants to be traded if the right deal can be made, a person close to the Pro Bowl tight end told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Asking not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the subject, the person said Gonzalez was surprised that Hunt had said the Chiefs were definitely not going to trade their 10-time Pro Bowler.
“If the right deal can be made, Tony very much wants the Chiefs to trade him,” the person said. “Tony is not demanding a trade. Tony cherishes the time he’s spent with the Chiefs and he loves the way he’s always been treated by the fans there. But he knows of some other teams that would be interested in him and if the right deal can be made, he wants it to be made.”
A Chiefs spokesman said Hunt could not be immediately reached. At the owners’ meeting in Dana Point, Calif., on Monday, Hunt said the Chiefs had decided not to deal Gonzalez.
“If the Chiefs can’t make a deal with the right team, then Tony will be fine with that,” The AP was told. “He is not demanding a trade. But if the right deal can be made, he very much would like to be traded.”

As I mentioned in previous posts, I am sick and tired of this crybaby mentality! I appreciate all that Tony has brought to the Chiefs, but it is a new day and anyone not on board needs to get off at the next stop! Let’s cut the cancer out and trade him for a high pick or another O or D lineman and be done with it, once and for all!

How about Gonzo for Boldin staight up? Although I doubt the Cardinals would do that. But if they think they are close to a title, they might pull the trigger. Haley and Boldin would have to do some repairing of their personality conficts if it were to occur. But it would clearly benefit both teams.

and the saga continues.
Goldzone- Boldin is awesome, but Tony G is on a totally different level (like the top level of greatness of the whole history of the NFL). Boldin isn’t even a pimple on Gonzalez’s ass yet.

He’s not going anywhere, Clark won’t let him go for anything short of an unrealistic trade.

I only hope that if the Chiefs do give him up, he goes to a team that wins the Superbowl this year and then Tony Gonzales retires, that way his Chiefs legacy would be forever preserved…
Even if he had a great year and the new team he was on won the Superbowl, as long as he spent only one year there then everyone would know that he just left for the ring!

I could see a Patriot trade for him….. Look at what we got from the Pats. Gonzo to the Patriots for a undesclosed draft pick. Don’t comment on my comment till you think about Cassel and Vrabel deal.

I don’t think Tony is being a crybaby. I think he’s been pretty realistic and fairly respectful about it. It would pain him to leave the Chiefs, but admits to himself and others that he’d like a championship run before he retires. I can’t blame him for that, although I hoped the new regime would light a fire in him. Obviously we need to do something on defense to get people a little more positive about the immediate future.
He seems willing to respect the Chiefs decision on this, and based on his amazing 2nd half last year, he obviously can put this behind him when on the field. His “stand up character” still makes him a relatively good clubhouse presence and he’s generally a good example for young players.

Tony needs to stay!!!!!!!! HE IS THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS.. If he leaves I almost gurantee he doesn’t get a ring. If he had three or four more years maybe. I want to see him get the ring with KC that is what he deserves, to get it with the team that he built his career with. I do want to see him get the championship he deserves, but I just don’t want to see him leave, and then it doesn’t happen for him. Then he went to another team for nothing. If he goes to the patriots then I say he might just get it, or maybe Pittsburgh anyone else then I say he is flippin a coin. There is no guarantee that who we trade him to will win it. I say if we trade him he may just see us win the show, and he’ll wish he stayed around. I don’t want to see that happen to him.

I want him to stay. I hope he doesn’t do like Tikki Barber and leave or retire too soon and miss a superbowl ring the next year.
