    2. Our schedule is bulls**t. I know we sucked last year but 2 years without a primetime game WTF? Then we open on the road for the second year in a row, against someone that was in the AFC championship the year before and finish with 2 more road games. Hogs**t if you ask me. Plus 4 non-conference games in a row!!!!!! Oh well I’ll be at the Oct. 18th game with my Fiance………an F’n Redskins fan.

    5. What’s with the 4 NFC East teams all in a row? That kind of sucks. Do like the 3 straight December home games though.

    6. I see 10 possible games we could win (2 Raiders, 2 Broncos, 2 Chargers, Redskins, Bills, Bengals, and Browns) and 6 games we can not win (Ravens, Eagles, Giants, Cowboys, Steelers, and Jaguars).

I’m getting a little bit excited!! Lol. Go Chiefs.

    7. josh we can beat all those teams you pointed out ….maybe not the steelers….anyone can beat anbody on any given sunday….. and the cowboys can be the same way

    8. I’m starting to get a little concerned about the folks at NFL headquarters! Not giving the new look Chiefs on their 50th anniversary, at least one primetime game is out of bounds! I get all of the crap about the popularity of the Cowboys, etc..etc…etc…, and even televising the Steelers all the time. But could’nt they at least have taken one of the many games away from the Cowboys and threw a bone to the Chiefs? And if they want to show the Cowboys every damn week, then why not nationally televise the Cowboys/Chiefs game at Arrowhead on say Sunday or Monday night? Stoning them last year made sense, and if Herm and the Clowns were coming back it would make sense, but not showing some love to the original “Foolish Club” founders on year 50, smacks of some serious favoritism from the league. The NFL stands on it’s own and you don’t have to show only 5 or 6 teams every ….ing week! The games will get the ratings no matter who is playing. Do they not have enough foresight to know that with the new regime, Arrowhead will be rocking again!, and when it is, it is one of, if not the best, TV experiences the NFL can find. This is all about Jerry Jones and a few other palm greasers getting their way again! Frankly, it makes me sick! I know the Chiefs will have to do some proving of their legitimacy to “earn” some national TV time, but didn’t they already do that with the hiring of Pioli? The Commish and others in NY need to do a better job of holding their ground against these greedy TV executives at the major networks that do all of the bidding! Baseball and Basketball have already fallin prey to this sort of scheduling! You can only watch the Cubs on Sunday night baseball so many times before you’re turning green, and then subsequently turning the channel. C’mon guys, let’s not let the NFL go that route as well. I know fans have ways to watch their teams anyway, but at some point this garbage has got to stop!!!

      Comment by Goldzone — April 15, 2009 @ 1:25 am

    9. This is the third or fourth year in a row where we have to play the Super Bowl team from the year before. Quick look at the teams we play next year and I bet you can guess what team is going to the big dance this year!

      Comment by zyker — April 15, 2009 @ 4:14 am

    10. dmiller, that was my first beef too! We better get a first game home opener next year, this is ridiculous! Goldzone, it’s truly not fair that the Chiefs have no prime time games next season, Clark should ride the NFL’a ass on this one…I suppose we could forward our frustrations their way?!?

Meanwhile….I have to be honest, I’m on pins and needles with this Tony G thing…what’s the latest?

      Comment by Tammy H — April 15, 2009 @ 4:55 am

    11. It is a little strange to play the whole NFC East in 4 straight games. That is pretty tough. We need to take the division this year. We need a pass Rush in a major way. Remember how much time the QB had last year

      Comment by Chief Brad — April 15, 2009 @ 5:30 am

    12. I would rather play the toughest team on the road in the first game. I think it gives you the best chance to beat them vs. later in the season when they have figured things out and are in stride. So I don’t mind the road game to start the season. But I agree with what everyone is saying about the prime time games, that sucks for us out-of-town fans. Fortunately for me, they are coming to the east coast this year and I might get to see a couple games. 8-8 won our division last year so who knows.

      Comment by Jeff in VA — April 15, 2009 @ 5:54 am

    13. Goldzone – Look, I am as big of Chiefs fan as the next guy, but really??? You think the Chiefs deserve a primetime game after the incredible season they had last year? I wish they had a primetime game too, but the only people who would be watching that game is KC. ESPN, ABC and NFL Network wouldn’t touch that game with a 10 foot pole. The Chiefs need to prove it this year. With Carl Peterson gone, their hands are untied and NOW let’s see what they can do!!

      Go Chiefs!!

      Comment by Vance — April 15, 2009 @ 8:13 am

    14. Wow, someone doesn’t want us making the playoffs…..
WE STILL WILL THOUGH,….It suck that we don’t get ANY primetime games AGAIN this year! GO CHIEFS!

    15. josh i aree o n some of your picks put i see the chiefs going 13-3 or maybe 14-2 if we r lucky we will own the afc west again and have the playoffs home field advantage and go all the way this year

      Comment by michael diedrich — April 15, 2009 @ 9:31 am

    16. The four NFC east games in a row doesn’t worry me a bit.The NFC east will not be what it was last year.Being in Northern VA,I had to watch the Skins all year and if this team doesn’t start out strong everyone will turn on them.I think the Cowboys will have a losing record this year, and the only team to worry about is philly who I think will make a run.You guys in KC should know that I will be the loudest Chiefs fan in Fed Ex Field on week 6. Go CHIEFS!!!

      Comment by David in VA — April 15, 2009 @ 9:58 am

    17. The NFL never throws us a bone. How many years has it been sinse we had a Monday night game? Everybody is up the Cowboys ass.

      Comment by Chief Tom — April 15, 2009 @ 10:22 am

    18. That’s why I have directv. I live in Oklahoma and I use to have to watch the sorry ass cowboys every week. But now with season ticket I see KC every week no matter if thier prime or not. It is going to be sweet to see Cassle to Bowe this year. And when KC wins the SB we will get some respect!!!! Cuz my friends we are over due, we will the Super Bowl it is coming.

      Comment by Michael Raite — April 15, 2009 @ 11:07 am

    19. It is kind of annoying to have to see teams like (NYG, IND, CHI, & DAL) play 5 primetime games each, and then see teams like SF & CLE both get 2. Hell even OAK gets to play SD on a monday night game.

      Comment by KC111110 — April 15, 2009 @ 12:07 pm

    20. I agree with some of you saying we could win one or two of the 6 i mentioned above to lose, but then I’d also say we’d lose one or two of the 10 games i mentioned above to win. Regardless I see us maxing out at about a 10 win season.

We have to realize this is a progression. As much as I wanna believe we could go 12-4, 13-3, 14-2, etc…I have to be realistic. In all reality the rest of the world see’s us probably 2nd or 3rd in the divison over the “powerhouse” chargers…personally I think the chargers are gonna get whats been coming to them (I see some pretty big injuries coming that will kill them..), and denver and oakland are joke teams now…they have no quarterbacks to lead their teams. We didn’t last year either…and we went 2-14…

      Comment by Josh — April 15, 2009 @ 12:13 pm

    21. Even though KC didn’t get any prime time games, I believe they will be a .500 win or better team, which will more then likely give them a prime time game next year, hopefully to showcase the new Arrowhead Stadium. And as far as Chicago getting all those games, that bothers me, I watch the Bears games when I need something to put me to sleep, that team is a great sleeping aid.

      Comment by Kyle — April 15, 2009 @ 12:18 pm

    22. Vance,
I stated in my comment that had Herm and his clowns returned, then it would have made sense that we got shutdown for any national TV games. But my point was, that was last year! This is a new season with a new group of leaders. My point was the networks are incredibly dimwitted and should not be strictly going off of the previous season when they draw up the schedule. It makes sense when you are picking opponents, but does’nt when you are doing the TV games. Plus, if your point is to be believed, then why the Browns twice? And the lame Texans hosting a game? Or how about the pathetic Raiders, who can’t come close to selling out their games getting airtime? See, it makes no sense! Other than people are getting bought off! And this is coming from someone who is not a big guy on conspiracy theories! Also, to your point that no one would watch, is simply not true, the ratings in the past have shown that it doesn’t really matter who is playing, as long as it is an NFL game. People will watch and the ratings won’t suffer! That’s how popular the league is!

      Comment by Goldzone — April 15, 2009 @ 1:06 pm

    23. I remember after the ’03 season when we went 9-0, to 13-3 and lost a 7 on 7 air it game to Indy in the playoffs that we had either 3 or 4 primetime games in ’04. I know that I can be wrong because I did not do any research, and this is all off of my memory, but I think that was the last season we had a prime-time game (excluding the Thanksgiving night game commentated by the most lackluster commentator in NFL history, Bryant “I didn’t know there was a football game going on” Gumble).
In ’04 the Chiefs did horrible, and I think that the NFL is still mad that they invested so much in us on ’04 that they are purposefully not giving us any primetime games.

On another note, I think that the signing of Thomas and release of Franklin means that Pioli is looking to trade the #3. These moves make it seem as though the Chiefs do not Curry (as every mock draft board in the world indicates that they do), and it makes it look as though taking Crabtree is a viable option.
This is a good thing especially since the Browns are working out Crabtree and are supposedly on the cusp of trading Braylon to the Giants. So if they do want Crabtree, they might be willing to swap spots with us and give us a third. (Here’s hoping at least.) Is anyone still reading this?

      Comment by chiefsfan88 — April 15, 2009 @ 1:23 pm

    24. I read it. I just don’t understand your point with not drafting Curry. Curry is an outside linebacker, just like Vrabel and then DJ and Thomas are on the inside linebacker spots…I just don’t see your point. Regardless I wouldn’t mind us drafting Crabtree but I do not believe he is essential to a successful Chiefs offense. We have weapons on offense, we need help in the defensive category.

      Comment by Josh — April 15, 2009 @ 1:44 pm

    25. I meant to say that it the signing makes it seem as though (to others in the league) the Chiefs do not “need” to draft Curry. I am not saying that they still do not want to, but every team cannot peg us as a lock for picking him now. We have had a quiet free agency, but still managed to sign 4 LB’s (2 for sure starters) and still hold on to DJ and D. Williams.
Also cutting Franklin because he “didn’t fit our system” (yet he still many people try to claim him off the waivers, including the Raiders, but was picked up by the Lions) would make other GM’s have to consider the possibility that we would take Crabtree who would “fit the Haley system.”
All I am saying is that Pioli is being smart and doing a great job of not showing his cards to the league. Like I said best case scenerio, the Browns fall in love with Crabtree, swap with us and give us a third. This would leave us at number 5, and the Seahawks, who are in need of tackle, take either Monroe or Smith, and we still get Curry at 5 and a third. (Again this is a dream scenerio).
Nevertheless, I still think that Pioli is going to try to trade the pick, which I think that he could do.
P.S. I know that “top 5 picks never get traded,” but remember last year the Saints offered us the #10 (who ended up being Mayo D-ROTY), and their 1st in 09 for the #5 (Dorsey) and Carl refused wanting more. Also Pioli has a history of trading picks, just look at how many the Pats had last year even though they were stripped of their #1 by the NFL for Spygate.

    31. I say we draft Curry at #3 and sign Marvin Harrison!!!! GO CHIEFS!

      Comment by achief192 — April 15, 2009 @ 6:56 pm

    32. Getting Marvin Harrison is a terrible idea at this point. The reason we got Bobby Engram was for veteran leadership at the wide receiver position for a fair/cheap price…MH wants too much money for a guy who isn’t as effective anymore.

Honestly, I’d like to trade the #3 pick for a top 12 pick, a second, and a fifth or sixth (or the #12 and #18 from denver if Stafford is still around?). I think that’s pretty legit.

      Comment by Josh — April 15, 2009 @ 7:09 pm

    33. This is going to be one of the more interesting drafts, there are still a lot of questions to be answered in the next week or so, and some potential trades could still have a huge impact on teams draft strategies. Still think we should draft A.Curry or trade the pick down for multiple draft picks in this or next years draft.

      10 days to go until the draft ! ! ! !

    36. This news is from ESPN……Bad as I hate to say this but I think they are boosting his trade value. I dont want him to leave but I think he is gone on draft day. Maybe the second day of the draft. Pioli is a very secretive person, but I will support his decision.

The Kansas City Chiefs will hold a voluntary minicamp Friday through Sunday, which Larry Johnson’s agent, Peter Schaffer, said the running back will participate in. Schaffer said Johnson has been participating in the team’s offseason workout program, which began March 30.

Johnson originally asked to be traded but Schaffer maintains Johnson has changed his mind, and the fact that he has been working out with teammates and is about to go to the minicamp are both strong signs that he wants to be a Chief and that the team wants to keep him.

The Chiefs recently won a grievance against Johnson based on roster bonus money. The grievance win cleared the way for the team to easily release Johnson, who was suspended by the team and the NFL for a total of four games for off-field issues in 2008. The Chiefs have yet to make any announcement on Johnson.

Schaffer said it is his belief that the Chiefs are interested in keeping the 29-year-old workhorse.

“If it was a foregone conclusion that the Chiefs would cut Larry I don’t think he’d be going to the minicamp,” Schaffer said. “We’re planning on moving on. That’s why Larry is with the team.”

    42. I am an MU student and i know a friend of will franklin (4th round pick last year who just got waived and 6 teams put a waiver claim in for him the next day… however thats a different rant of how the front office screwed the pooch), i was talking to him about Tony g and i was told that Franklin believes that the chiefs will never win a championship with tony g in the clubhouse, he said that he is 2 much of a disruption and a terrible teamate that ruins team chemistry, no joke said that tong g refers to himself in the 3rd person during practice etc…
yes he’s a hall of famer and yes he acts classy for the most part but if the other players feel this way, then who cares if he gets sent packing or not. Hes only got a few years left.
