[Kansas City.com] Tight end Tony Gonzalez, a 10-time Pro Bowler and fan favorite in Kansas City, has been traded to the Atlanta Falcons for a second-round selection in the 2010 draft.
Gonzalez did not show up for last weekend’s minicamp at Arrowhead Stadium and has expressed interest in being traded several times since last season.
“From an organizational as well as personal standpoint there are mixed emotions,” said Scott Pioli, Chiefs general manager, in announcing the trade. “I have the highest personal and professional respect for Tony and consider him to be a future Pro Football Hall of Famer.”
Gonzalez owns NFL career records for tight ends with 916 receptions, 10,940 receiving yards, 76 receiving touchdowns and 26 100-yard receiving games, totals that are the highest of any player in Kansas City history in all categories.
Gonzalez earned 10 Pro Bowl berths as a member of the Chiefs, the highest total of any tight end in NFL history.

firt comment, wooohooo.. anyways! This sucks, but I have faith that Pioli and Haley will pull something good out of this. I wish Gonzo the best of luck in Atlanta.
Comment by Bryan — April 23, 2009 @ 4:23 pm
well now that I have gtten my anger out of my system… Gonzo, you are still the best tight end playn but now as an EX chief, you’re a target….. not gonna say best of luck cuz I hope the Falcons flop and you regret your decision for the next 3-4 years…. If he didnt wanna be here, he needed to go. Lets hope for a great draft…GO CHIEFS!!!

I am, have always been, and will always will be a die-hard Chiefs fan, so if KC doesn’t go all the way I hope Gonzo gets his ring..he deserves it

I wrote this on the previous blog, but I felt the need to copy and paste it here where it belongs.
I can’t help but feel “don’t let the door hitcha where the good Lord splitcha, bxxtchâ€â€¦
Am I wrong?
You’re kidding, right Tony?! How are they SO much more superior than us and what we’re doing right now? Oh, if I were betting on who was going to the SB next year, I’d be all over the Falcons, yeah right!!!!
He’s always been amazing, and his jersey was the best $80 I ever spent (about a hundred years ago it seems), but I’ve been EXTREMELY disgusted with his seemingly nasty attitude as of late…and the crap he pulled mid-season was stupid as well.
Cry-babies bite.
He’ll regret it!
Comment by Tammy H — April 23, 2009 @ 4:32 pm
I knew that Gonzo was going to be traded and I wish him well. But for a 2nd round pick NEXT year? He was worth more than that.
Comment by Hippien70s — April 23, 2009 @ 4:35 pm
Anyone want to buy a used #88 jersey?? Cheap?? Oh, and by the way……THANKS FOR GIVING UP ON US TONY!!!!!! In the long run, Pioli is right, trade the ones that DON’T want to be here. Even tho tony gave his all last year, I think he was lookin for trade value. For his years of service in KC I hope he finds what he is looking for. But I bet Atlanta doesn’t even make the playoffs next year.
Comment by DENNIS — April 23, 2009 @ 4:36 pm
Tammy H,
Your EXACTLY RIGHT. We as fans should be faithful to the players that are faithful to us (as in WANT to be here). I just dont see Atlanta as a Super Bowl Champion.
Comment by DENNIS — April 23, 2009 @ 4:41 pm
I so agree with Tammie, cry babies bite. Gonzo was the best tightend to ever suit up for the Chiefs, key word…WAS. Im on Pioli’s side on this as much as it sucks to lose TG. Onward and Upward GO CHIEFS.
Comment by hardcorefan — April 23, 2009 @ 4:43 pm
Just went to the NFL blogs and no one is saying this was good for the Chiefs???? I hope Pioli knows what he’s doing, cause trading Tony for a 2nd rd next year makes no sense!!!!!
I hope the Falcons win 2 games next year!
Comment by hrivera — April 23, 2009 @ 4:47 pm
Even though TG was great It is time for him to move on. It is great to see us as Chiefs fans coming together to support our team no matter what trade they make. We are already a thousand times better because we believe in ourselves again!!!! Oh yeah and who was the last guy in charge here Carl something or another???
Comment by Dave S — April 23, 2009 @ 4:53 pm
I cant feel sorry for Tony.
He wanted out. He got out.
I have a question for some. Why does tony deserve a ring? Yes he has hall of fame numbers and is one of the best to ever play tight end. So does that alone reward him to have a ring?
Tony has what 2 houses? One in kc and one in cal. He has millions and millions of dollars in his mid 30s. If he chose to quit working he wouldnt have to ever again.
Sounds to me like he got more than most of us. So why does he deserve a ring. Because he did his job for 10+ years. There are people who have done are jobs for 10+ years and then got laid off.
Comment by GoogleyMoogley — April 23, 2009 @ 4:55 pm
He can thank the KC fans for buying tickets and paying his salary for those millions

our best player for a second round pick next year …..
Comment by Vigil — April 23, 2009 @ 5:01 pm
Um, Scott Pioli said that Tony did NOT ask to be traded. So to people who are pissed at Tony This is Pioli’s doing. Pioli really feels he got value for TG with a sh**ty 2nd rounder next year. Ridiculous! To me this is 10 times worse then trading Jarred Allen, He at least was practically demanding a trade. Although TG was not the happiest of campers in KC, He was still cool with staying and playing his best football. Well, Now that best football will be with Atlanta and not by TG’s choice. I know, I know, were supposed to “trust” Pioli but S**t! This trade sucks a$$! STUPID!!!!!! Screw it I’m just going to blame herm the worm. I’m sure somehow this is his fault.
Comment by Robert C — April 23, 2009 @ 5:33 pm
you know what when the falcons chock and kansas city makes it to the playoffs he will be back
Comment by michael diedrich — April 23, 2009 @ 5:42 pm
I’m not sure I understand the thinking behind this trade. In my opinion, neither team is closer to winning a super bowl. Tony is a great addition to Atlanta, but wasn’t their defense what let them down last year.
We are better offensively than last year, and should be defensively as well. Makes zero sense, especially for next years 2nd round pick!!!???
I think Tony will eventually regret the fact that he had an opportunity to retire with the club that drafted him. I wish him the best and thank him for his years of service, but do not like it!!!
Comment by Travis — April 23, 2009 @ 5:44 pm
i haaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the fact that tony is gone now what am i to do with my tony g cards that i have they r wrothless and i bet that he now regrets that trade because a 2 round for next years draft is just bullsh%t and they sould have said no deal on the trade and tell tony that he is going to be a chief next year so get over it and we will get you the ring you want but no he is gone and our hopes for a playoff r still at large so when the falcons don’t make it to the playoffs i hope the trade comes back and bits topny in the a$$

This is retarded i dont understand this trade i honestly have to words for pioli f**k you pioli. all u have done so far is get us old linebackers a qurterback that we cant even sing to long term contract and a oline men that i have never even heard of and a bunch of no name patriot players. and now u lay this s**t on me we get a 2 round pick in next years draft for the best tightend in the nfl and in the history of the nfl. WOW how do u expect cassel to be good next year when all we have is bowe and lets be honest hes not that greates atless yesterday we could say we had tony and bowe. and on top of this we have only one offense of line men in alberts i say one beacuse im sure u will screw up and trade waters anither future hall a famer.dont get me wrong i wish the best for tony he is the greatest chief to ever put on the jersey. its just sad it has to come to this in my heart tony will always be a chief its not his fault things got this bad in kansas city.but hey fellow chief fans atless we got cassel with no body around him. we get to draft in the top 3 this year and next year. 2009 chiefs season 3-13.
Comment by Paul — April 23, 2009 @ 6:42 pm
I hate to see Tony go. I think he really bailed out Tyler Thigpen a lot last year, and he could have done the same with the “no so experienced” Matt Cassel. I wish him the best in the future. He may be the best Chief ever.
Also, I would like to say that we got hosed on this trade. If we would have held onto Gonzo until draft day, we could have gotten more for him. A second next year is equal to a third this year. We got ripped off! I bet the Eagles would have given us a second this year.
Comment by Husker Magic — April 23, 2009 @ 6:52 pm
a good trade for a player who wished to be somewhere else and the draft day coming up will be oh so interesting on day one
Comment by upchief101 — April 23, 2009 @ 7:01 pm
If we were going to trade him, it should have been for a 2nd round pick this year.
TONY – Thanks for all the great memories!!! I do wish you the best of luck, but I wish you would have stayed in KC, the choice was ultimately yours…
Comment by wack — April 23, 2009 @ 7:20 pm
2nd round pick, next year? amazing, I have no idea how this makes sense for the chiefs. Even the people on t.v. where shaking their heads in disbelief. Maybe they’re thinking about getting crabtree and that’s why they think this isn’t going to be an INSANELY huge hit to our offense. This is pretty bad in my opinion. If that’s all we could get for him then why in gods name did we trade him. He’s got 3 -4 years left of being the best tight end in football. Not to mention he seems to help these young tackles with blocking. Pioli was passing on the favor of the good deal we got from new england in that trade. I just hope we can have a decent year. We’ve been the worst team in football over the last two years. Lost more games than the lions. C’mon chiefs, my blood pressure needs a good season.
Comment by dbowe82 — April 23, 2009 @ 7:49 pm
Come on guys. This is a brilliant move. I would be willing to bet that we get more picks or a great player out of this deal. LIKE BOLDIN. What a combo Boldin and Bowe. Killer B’s. Pioli is smarter than all of us and knows his stuff. Keep faith Chiefs fans.
Comment by Joe C J — April 23, 2009 @ 8:00 pm
Gonzo…for a seconzo that could turn into a 0 not until the year AFTER this one…good grief, #88, the best tight end ever to play the game, doesn’t have more trade value than that? I would be disgruntled in the off season as well after the Chiefs abysmal and shameful 2-14 record, and Tony rightfully would be highly frustrated, but couldn’t we get a better trade this season? As a long time Chiefs fan, and having suffered many seemingly senseless decisions (such as the Elvis Grbac subsitution for Rich Gannon during the 13-3 season that was another witling’s ridiculous faux pas), this is probably the worst of them all.
Good grief.
Comment by Brett — April 23, 2009 @ 8:03 pm
He wanted out, so be it.
I hate to see the best TE to ever play the game leave but it is what he wanted. I will keep my autographed cards of TG thank you as I will all of my TG memorabilia, he will retire and go into the HOF as a Chief.
The thing that bothers me is we got nothing for him in return to help us this year unless Pioli has some magic up his sleeve like trading our 1st this year and the pick we got for TG next year and something else for a later 1st and a few more picks this year….I hope something happens, I am not getting any younger or healthier and I would love to see our team make a lot of noise in the playoffs or the big show before I die.
Comment by Kansas City Krusher — April 23, 2009 @ 8:04 pm
Pioli will pull something…He is not done yet.
Comment by Kcchiefs19692003 — April 23, 2009 @ 8:19 pm
At least he did break all the records in Red and Gold. But oh well. Wish you the best of luck and hope you get a ring before you retire. I still say we will win more than 2 games next year, even without Tony G.
Comment by JRock in Texas — April 23, 2009 @ 8:22 pm
Honestly I hate this…but I don’t put the blame on TG or the Chiefs. Unfortunately it has become the norm in sports today to not have a guy like Tony (yeah even a future HOF’r) retire with the team. I will always be a die-hard Chiefs fan (even though I live in Chargers land now) but sometimes it gets hard to be a team fan when the players jump around so much.
I wish TG the best unless we ever play ‘em. In which case take his head off.
PS. we got rid of the wrong guy…LJ…Broken Croyle????
Comment by chiaman — April 23, 2009 @ 8:52 pm
The Patriots and Cardinals never used a tight end. Thats part of the reason why he`s gone. The other part is i know he had a good year last year, but he`s on the tail end of his career so why not trade him now and get an extra pick in the second round for next year. No one likes it now, but this time next year everyone will be pretty happy.
Comment by Jeff from Jersey — April 23, 2009 @ 8:55 pm
He woudn’t be used enough in the new system anyway. We can still maintain a high powered offense if we can pick up a star like Crabtree or Boldin. The thing is that I, like many others who have had the displeasure of wathching the Chiefs for the last couple years, am seriuously tired of watching our defense be on the feild (and not stopping anybody) the whole game. Now, We may have to use an early pick in order to get Crabtree or another offensive threat. Our defense sucks and if he doesn’t get some people to come in and play quality D then he is goig to find that out real quick. Let me repeat, OUR DEFENSE F%#king SUCKS! Fix it or go back to the Patriots and Cardinals!
Comment by Rocky — April 23, 2009 @ 9:23 pm
I hate seeing TG go also, but he wanted out and why not grant it to the best. Are the Falcons going to the Super Bowl, nope, we have a better shot seeing how our division isn’t very tough now.
You know this trade isn’t over yet, Cassel for a 2nd rounder………….oh, throw in Vrabel too. We haven’t seen the last of this trade yet, something else will be announced soon. Pioli is like a super geek/master-mind, he knows what he’s doing.
Thanks Tony for all you did as a Chief but the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, you will soon find out!
Comment by H20 — April 23, 2009 @ 9:58 pm
You can’t use the arguement that the Pats and Cards don’t use the tight end when you are talking about TG. How often has he lined up and virtually played the slot receiver position? Including him in the normal TE discussion is an insult to his ability and the way he can be used. I am sure Pioli and Haley have a “plan”, but the initial terms of this trade are ridiculous.
I do not plan to accept this as a positive move….don’t see how it is possible. They obviously deserve the chance to play their cards, but as of right now, I am not pleased.
Comment by Travis — April 23, 2009 @ 10:21 pm
Bash TG all you guys want. Bottom line he gave it his all every time he played in KC. How many of us wanted to get promoted or would seek a new job because of prestige or realized where we were at was a dead end. He is in the last years and unfortunately during the rebuild thats pretty much a dead end in terms of how many years he has left. I wish him good luck and hope he gets a ring before he retires. We all want whats best for #1 why can’t he.
Comment by Mr. ED — April 23, 2009 @ 10:51 pm
At this point, living in the NOW of 2009, this trade makes absolutly NO sense! How the F**K does a pick in 2010 help us win more games in 2009???
It doesn’t! Tony Gonzalez would have helped us win more games than a 2nd rounder a whole year away.
IF we just sit on this second rounder until 2010, which will almost be a 3rd rounder when the Falcons make the playoffs again, then this is the worst trade in recent memory. At least for Jared Allen, we got something back. A starting tackle in Albert, and a good RB in Jamal Charles.
Pioli better have something up his sleeve!!! We better, somehow make another trade for a player like Boldin, or more picks THIS YEAR, to have this move make any sense for 2009.
Comment by wack — April 23, 2009 @ 11:19 pm
Here is Tony G’s new jersey.
Comment by whatup — April 23, 2009 @ 11:25 pm
PIOLI: “The pick that is the 2010 pick right now is, as we sit here, could very well be a pick that’s a second round in 2010 but that pick, as you all know can be used in a lot of different ways and can somehow end up being a pick that’s used in the draft this year. So, in terms of us continuing to bring in players and build a roster with players it may be that pick will be the Falcons pick next year or it may be a different pick this year or several picks.â€

Hey, everyone in chiefs nation.Tony might be the greatest chief ever. I wish he would not have been traded but we will be better for it. I wish him luck. I hope it works out for him. He gave everyhing he had.So for every one who is hating him, stop it right now. He was great, he just wants to win and win now. He has a chance now, not great but a chance.Good luck Tony. It might take a few years, but we will be the best in the league.
Comment by dougy34 — April 24, 2009 @ 1:24 am
ever since TG got to KC theres been practicly no playoffs. Maybe he was the bad luck, So I’m glad he took it with him. Now that we don’t have to worry about the tight end always getting the ball we can spread the field and use the WR’s for what they’re there for.
Trader Gonzalez

I hope the Falcons TANK the season! Tony has finally cried his way out of KC. The Falcons a Super Bowl contender Tony? I don’t think so Bro. I hope this bites him in the ass. I’ll forgive Tony when he retires as a Chief, but until then he is the enemy. The FALCONS?! ARE YOU SERIOUS???!!! Matt Ryan had a decent year, but they are just as far along on getting to the Super Bowl as we are. This leads me to believe that he just wanted to get the hell out to a Super Bowl contender or not.
Comment by Chief Tom — April 24, 2009 @ 1:27 am
What the hell good is a ring when it’s not with the guys you have fought along side for 12 years? Derrick Thomas would never have asked for a trade. There is no debate now. Derrick Thomas is the best and truest Chief we have ever known. (Here’s to D.T., may he forever rest in peace, our beloved Red Brother)
Comment by Chief Tom — April 24, 2009 @ 1:33 am
Its funny how you guys are already “hating” on Tony G. He bleed Red and Gold evey game and every year. Even last season after he mentioned wanting to be traded and although it didnt happen he gave 110% on every down. I think if he didnt get traded this season he would have played his heart out. I dont blame him for wanting to leave, sometimes people need a change. Now with that being said I still think he would have had just as much of a shot winning a title with us then with the Falcons. I bet they dont make the playoffs next year. Goodluck TG. Thanks for all the memories u gave us. Truley the best TE the NFL has EVER seen.

I not mad at the fact they traded TG. What upsets me the most is the fact they got a 2nd round draft pick from NEXT year not this year. He is without a doubt a HOFer and I still say he is worth a 1st rounder. But if you stop and look at it its like I give you a Mustang car this year and have drive it good and next year I’ll take your old pickup truck from ya. We aren’t getting nothing out of it THIS year. We needed a LB, DE and a WR mostly in the draft and now with this move we need to add a TE to that list. The bog rumors are that the Chiefs are going to trade down there #1 pick so they can get Jackson out of LSU. But its looking like that if the Chiefs trade down that our arch nemesis Broncos will take Jackson from us. It just don’t make since. I have faith in ut my Chiefs, but I starting to get worried.
Comment by Kenny H — April 24, 2009 @ 5:59 am
Not to justify his desire to leave KC, but the Chiefs were 2-14 last year, remember? The Falcons were 11-5.
I think the Chiefs will be improved this year, but not to the degree where they’ll be 12-4 or so….. I’d love it if they did, but I’m not expecting it.

I cannot believe they couldn’t do better than this. The draft was 2 days away! Maybe a 2nd rd this year. I understand he wanted to be traded, which breaks my heart, but, I cannot believe they couldn’t have had something better offered tomorrow! It won’t be the same without him. But, just maybe, if they had had a meeting with our veterans alone, just maybe they would have wanted to stay under the new regime!

TONY WANTED THIS! HE HAS FOR THE LAST 4 SEASONS. 1ST HE SAID HE WANTED TO BE TRADED BECAUSE WE WEREN’T DOING ANYTHING TO WIN. THEN HE SAID HE WOULD LEAVE IF WE GOT RID OF HERM. HE WANTED TRADED. IN PIOLI WE TRUST.
Comment by Andy O — April 24, 2009 @ 9:44 am
Trading for a 2nd rounder next year makes perfect sense people. Just think, its never a good sign for a draft when almost half of the top ten teams want to trade down!! That just shows the lack of talent in this years draft, but if you look ahead to next years draft, a lot of the best players in college are going to be seniors, which make better draft picks anyway.
So when Pioli was offered this years 2nd rounder by T.Dimitrioff(ATL GM), the guy was probably surprised that Pioli wanted next years 2nd rounder instead, and he pulled the trigger and got this deal done. Just watch how this plays out, im betting we get the better end of this deal in the long run, but for the time being the Falcons just got our best player for basically FREE!!! I hope he’s forced to change his number.

Comment by Tammy H — April 24, 2009 @ 10:37 am
Oh and has anybody thought that the reason Pioli wanted ATL’s 2nd rd pick for next yr might be because he knows the Falcons wont be as good next year which would make that pick worth more??
I think the Falcons got lucky last year, because they are still playing the NFC South (Tampa, New Orleans, Carolina) which is never easy. The Falcons could very well be one of the biggest flops this year. Which would be great for us.
Comment by KC111110 — April 24, 2009 @ 10:42 am
Goodbye chiefs after being a fan for 40yrs. thisranks right up there with the gannon trade. pioli is a dumba** I guess they like being on the bottom of the afc west. As for me I see no improvement this year, maybe they’ll be 4-12 this year. Chiefs officially suck now. you know you are old when you remember a chief superbowl victory. doubt i’ll see another in this lifetime.

I don’t understand how a 2-14 team can give up their best player for a 2nd rounder next year, and anyone can think this is gonna work out well. I’ll never give up being a chiefs fan no matter what, unlike that randy clown who just bought a roethlisberger jersey. Randy, you make all chiefs fans look bad, so good riddens. My god I am rolling here laughing at all these posts. I can’t believe that there are people who do not even understand what is going on here. Hint ere read the posts and read up on the situation that has occured.
Read post 39 and 53-I believe that thee is more to come. I believe there will be a trade of the third pick for more picks THIS YEAR. I also believe that the 2010 2nd rounder will be a part of that selection.
Tony got what he wanted, I can’t believe that he would be a falcon, I figured an Eagle or Patriot. The I READ a post about the Patriots not using a TE, and It made sense. So I dropped the Patriots and Stuck with the Eagles.
Tony will always be a Chief. I might get a Falcons jersey because I like the way he plays. I know that he was wanting a trade and the Chiefs honored him. I alos believe that he will retire a Chief.
Remember people this is a business thats why there are trades and free agencies.
Larry Johnson might till be with the team this year, We will never know till it happens.
I remember all the people that stated that they love d Tony when he was a chief and now they turn there back. Is that Loyalty? no-at leat he is not on a AFC west team-or anyone that we play this year.
I expect flack-but then again the truth hurts

Come on. I love Tony “Boom Boom” Gonzalez, but 1 player isn’t going to be the difference for us. This is FOOTBALL, we need a team. TG or Jarred Allen didn’t win us any playoff games. Our goal should be a SB with in 3 years. 3 years from now Tony will be retired anyway. I like the trade and I’ll miss Tony, but now I can buy a TG jersey at a discount! Good luck Boom Boom.

I will always be a Gonzo fan and though I don’t like it, trading him makes since. Even if we stick with next years 2nd rounder, we draft a player that could play for the next 12 yrs, Tony is only around for 2 or 3 more years. Might as well get value before he retires and we get nothing. Last years trade of Allen was a bonehead move by the garabage that got thrown out of Arrowhead. He is young, an impact player, and has 10 years left. Don’t need to hate someone just because they aren’t Chiefs. I’m still and Allen fan and a Gonzo fan. Oh, still love T-Rich out there too!
Once a Chief, always a Chief!!

dirt Ok so we would get a 24th 1st round pick for Dorsey that was a 5th rounder? Ahhh No way inless we get a 2nd rounder, also the 23rd in the second or 55th overall. We would need two picks for him
I am still pushing for two 1st rounders in 2009 for the third overall.

I remember all the people that stated that they love d Tony when he was a chief and now they turn there back. Is that Loyalty? – Kcchiefs19692003
My loyalty lies with the Kansas City Chiefs, not with individual players. Do you think it was loyal for Tony G to request a trade half way through the season last year? Give me a break. Fact of the matter is, we are a worse team now, due to tony’s selfishness. So as far as i’m concerned, f him. Were you a rich gannon fan when he went to oakland? I’m sad to see him go and have loved tony g for years, but i’m a chiefs fan first and foremost. If you’re not on the chiefs, you’re trying to win a superbowl, which would mean no superbowl for the chiefs. So screw everyone on every team except for the chiefs. That’s how I feel, and yes, chiefs1969, that is loyalty. To my team.

Just to make my opinion clear, my irritation comes from the fact that we are turning loose our best offensive weapon regardless of what Tony wanted. He did ask for a trade, but he also continued to produce. He was reliable and loyal to the game, even after asking for the trade. I understand that he has less than five years remaining in the league. But how you trade him for a 2nd rounder, with no guarantee of who can fill the void, is, in my opinion, a huge mistake. He is, without a doubt, THE BEST TE TO EVER PLAY, PERIOD. Everyone has their own opinion about getting value for him now, but a 2nd rounder is laughable.
To top things off, there is significant discussion about not taking Curry if we retain the 3rd pick, to take another DT??!! I am not going to pass judgement yet, as there is a lot of decisions to be made before tomorrow, but as of now, I am not pleased.

Unless we get more picks in the 2009 draft, this is a dumb trade. We could have kept Tony and we know he would have done what he always does… be the best TE in the league!
We could have kept him this year, 2009, and traded him next year for the Falcons 2nd rounder in 2010!!!
AGAIN- We could have kept Tony Gonzalez, this year and traded him next year for the Falcons 2nd rounder in 2010!!!

Well… as much as this sucks, maybe we could do some kind of trade for Anquan Boldin before we start today.. he did make public comments on not midning playing for Todd here in KC and Pioli did say that the pick we aquired for Tony could be used for trades this year as well.
I really don’t think the Chiefs will be as quiet as everyone thinks they will today. We will have to wait and see what happens. If they truely just let the pick sit until next year though and nothing else happens, then we just got HOSED UP THE A$$ BY THIS RIDICULOUS TRADE.

Football is a shifting game and Pioli has some rebuilding he’s committed to. Tony has seen some of the worst years of the Chiefs “building” and has benefited greatly from some very bad QBs we’ve had, as well. I think he was worth more than a 2nd round pick, but I’m not in the general office, so I hope there’s more behind the scenes. I’ll still be wearing my #88, KC jersey on Sunday.

maybe loyalty was the wrong word. I Do not see how a person can state wow he is great keep him please, and then say f**k him the next, its almost polar to me.
I have been a chiefs fan since (here is showing my age) 1969 when I went to my first game thanksgiving day against the Eeyores. I am LOYAL to the chiefs, BUT that does not mean I start hating players that the chiefs let go due to it being a business. Did anyone really state that they disapprove of Gayle Sayers leaving the Chiefs? In short some of you YOUNGER chiefs fans may not know that we actually had him. I respect players that have been on and have left the Chiefs. Tony will always be a great player and will always be a player that I respect. The Chiefs I respect, Honor and bleed for.
Tony gave the Chief hope and turning your back on a player like what he has done for the Chief, means you did not care for what he has done for them. Respect the man,, you may not respect what has happened , but respect the man for his LOYALITY because he could have left a long time ago.

I thought that we were building to win as much as we can this year… I guess not. Plus Tony has shown no signs of slowing down he will be good for 3 more years.
Rucking Fetarded Trade. A proven hall of famer on top of his game for an unknown, unproven player next year. I am not pleased at all with this trade.
