The Chiefs used their three 7th round picks in the 2009 NFL Draft on the following players:

With their first pick in the 7th round, the Chiefs selected RB Javarris Williams out of Tennessee State.

Williams (5-10, 223) captured All-American, All-OVC and league Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2008, despite missing the final two games with a hamstring pull. He finished his four-year career with 4,329 rushing yards.

With their second pick in the 7th round, the Chiefs selected TE Jake O’Connell out of Miami (Ohio).

O’Connell (6-4, 255) saw action in 39 games for the Red Hawks and recorded 46 receptions for 453 yards with four touchdowns.

With their third pick in the 7th round, the Chiefs selected K Ryan Succop out of South Carolina.

Succop (6-2, 218) was an all-conference selection throughout his career, handling kickoff, place-kicking and punting responsibilities. He entered his senior season in 2008 highly regarded by NFL scouts. Struggles with an abdominal strain from mid-October through early November resulted in the worst statistical year of his career.

    1. How many picks are we going to waste on kickers? What is that, 4 years in a row now?

    3. Why does it matter that we picked a kicker? It was the last pick! Who cares….we have a good kicker in Connor Barth anyways.

    4. Its okay, this weekend I have already gotten used to a large number of chiefs fans that know more than everyone else and just posting comments of complaining and crying. If you knew so much about football, you would be working for the team.

    5. Has anyone heard anything about any Rookie Free Agents visiting with the team? I saw the Chase Daniels signed with the Redskins.

    9. good grief, i know more chiefs fans that like to complain about the moves the chiefs make than praising. why does it matter they picked a kicker as mr. irrelevent?! atleast they picked someone that actually has a chance to make the team. would you rather them pick someone that would have been cut as soon as training camp started. i have an idea, why don’t the people that only come here to riducule the chiefs, go to some raiders website and make yourself useful there.

    11. Plus this “kicker” is a able backup to both Barth and Colquitt. He could be our Kickoff guy for sure.

In college he kicked, kicked off, and punted. In his senior year he focused on field goals and kickoffs primarily but he is worth a roster spot I’d say. Especially after we saw what happened when Colquitt got injured last year…the guy who came in I think his name was Weatherford was horrific!
