Brodie Croyle does not deserve a roster spot. He was a mistake from the moment he was drafted. Horrible decision that set our team back at least 2 years!!!

kcchiefs19692003 thats not really a bad thing. Thigpen got creamed alot when he was behind center and not in shotgun. Maybe our O-line is better equipt for a shotgun QB. If you look at the stats of last year, all of our QB’s sucked until they got out thier shotguns.. Except for Brodie, he’s just a pu$$ and cant stand up straight without getting hurt. But I believe we have one hell of a QB selection. And I hope it plays out like this:
1st string Matt
2nd string Tyler
3rd string Brodie

I was really wishing they would have gave Tyler a shot although that don’t mean he wont.

my worries is not the money but the quality of a player he can and might be for that amount. Look at how he ran the offense. He is a shotgun QB when not in a shotgun he was hammered. Just hope he works out like we expect him to

The truth to this story is Scott Pioli is trying to save the chiefs money. M.Cassel is only gauranteed $28 million. So dont freak out just yet, a lot of these big contracts never even play out.

If you think about it though the chiefs brought him over with a price tag of $15 m./yr which is about what T.Brady makes. So scott Pioli is trying to spread the money out over 6yrs so he will end up making closer to $10 m./yr.

Now the worst thing that could happen is he could flop and make 14 million over the next two years (which would really suck), But the best thing that could happen is he wins us a superbowl or two over the next 6 yrs. Either way I think Scott Pioli made a good move here.

I think it is a lot to pay for a QB that lead the NFL in getting sacked last year, and the worst red zone passing % in the league. Not to mention he did this with Wes Welker, Randy Moss, and the Patriot O-line. Maybe he will turn around the Chiefs, but I would have liked to see him play with the Chiefs’ line, and skill players before we sign him to a deal. I hope LJ can get his groove back to take some pressure off of Cassel.

Seems to me this is actually the lowest risk move. Unless he flat out stinks and should be released after just one year, this is probably the cheapest route ($28 mil guaranteed). If we didn’t sign him to this there was a good chance we’d pay even more, i.e.

a) Great year at $15 mil. Next year either ~$16mil or long term $70+ mil contract. Either way, more than $28 mil.

b) Ok year at $15 mil, still need next year, either at $16 mil, or compete with free agency for a value deal and risk losing him

wow, so much for an open competition for the starting role, a guy who makes the kind of money this contract is being estimated at cant afford to be on the bench.

it does seem like they are putting all of their eggs into one basket but they obviously planned on this when they brought him over with his monster price tag earlier this year.

i just hope he has what it takes to lead this team and organization to the promise land. GOOD LUCK MATT & GO CHIEFS! ! !
