Chiefs Trade DT Tank Tyler

[Chiefs Blog] The Chiefs traded defensive lineman Tank Tyler to Carolina tonight for a fifth-round pick in the 2010 draft.

Tyler started two games this season at nose tackle before being replaced by Ron Edwards. Edwards played perhaps his best game of the season in Sunday’s 14-6 win over Washington and Tyler played sparingly.

Tyler, a third-round pick in 2006, started all 16 games for the Chiefs last season.

    1. Good move but also the Chiefs need to trade Leggett and start stockpiling next years draft picks.

    2. I just want to say how proud I am. I was at the game Sunday, and to see how well Chiefs fans traveled to that place was unbelievable. We didn’t get in the endzone but we clearly out played a Redskins team with their backs against the wall. The run blocking was the best I’ve seen in a while, even without Albert at LT. Washingtons defense is pretty good. The pass rush was clearly bothering Campbell (it usually does) but to see the Chiefs getting to the QB is very encouraging. I high fived so many Chiefs fans after the game my hand hurt! It’s only win number one but it was obvious that it felt good. One of many proud moments as a Chiefs fan.

    3. I agree with Leggett, we let Pollard go for him….and now Derrick Johnson is on the block….

    4. David, you and I probably high fived. Funny I caught a bunch of crap in the parking lot prior to the game and it was awful quiet on the way out. Getting my voice back today. (my first live game in over 20 years)

I hope Edwards doesn’t get hurt. Tank just didn’t work out, good luck to him.

    5. Get rid of Larry Johnson..He was only good when Priest Holmes started in front of him. He got the money..and now he doesn’t care.

    6. I would disagree with the comment that LJ doesn’t care. I think it’s just the opposite. Hard to run though when the line is so weak and we have a very weak line, especially the right side. Patchwork. LJ is frustrated and who wouldn’t be with his talent.

No miracles this year. Look for players who hold their attitude together. Hopefully Cassel does not get injured. Maybe Paoli can stockpile draft choices to continue to rebuild around nucleus. One thing is for sure, thre is no room for clown shows or indivudual bafoons. It’s all business with this team. Tehy just might get get very good very quickly in a year or two. The players that are there willl be like on field coaches at that point. When that happens look out.

    7. We wore LJ out 2 years ago and it hasn’t been the same. Should have traded him in the off season. Can’t get anything for him now. Drop Leggett. He SUCKS! Worse than Surtain was. We can still go 11-5!!!!. HEEEEE HHHAAAA hysterical laughter. I hate when I get excited about the draft in week 6 of the season. I’m putting it out there, Fisher, Cower, or Gruden for our next coach?

    8. I have’t liked LJ since the early days. But it seems like his attitude has changed with Haley in there. He’s getting old though. I’d like to see Charles play some more to determine if we should keep him next year.

    9. Was it the ’07 draft that we got Tank? Was he first or second round, I can’t seem to remember…
