[Kansas City.com] The Chiefs made a late roster move before today’s game against San Diego, promoting wide receiver Lance Long and releasing rookie Quinten Lawrence.
Long, also a rookie, likely will be used primarily on special teams and could try returning kickoffs. He had been on the practice squad since joining the team last month.
Lawrence, who was the Chiefs’ sixth-round pick this year, was drafted with the notion of returning kicks in mind. He struggled during training camp and was shuffled out of consideration.
