[KC Chiefs.com] The NFL informed the Chiefs on Wednesday that S Mike Brown has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Week 10 of the 2009 NFL regular season. Brown becomes the first Chiefs safety to win this honor since S Jerome Woods took home AFC Defensive POW accolades in Week Five of ’97. Brown previously was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week with Chicago in 2001.
Brown was a key contributor in the Chiefs 16-10 victory at Oakland where he registered a career-high two interceptions off QB Bruce Gradkowski to go with a personal-best four passes defensed.

WOW! The first time this guy doesn’t screw up, he gets player of the week! I hope he continues to get his Christmas presents early in the form of lucky interceptions or else it’s back in the dog house as one of the worst safeties in the game.
