There are many different ways to go about predicting the winner of an NFL game; studying scouting reports, analyzing individual matchups, checking out the football betting lines, those are just a few of the tools experts use to make their predictions. Those are all fine methods, but I prefer a more modern way, playing the match-up on Madden 2010 and seeing who comes out on top. Here is this week’s game prediction:
Chargers Outlast Chiefs in Overtime Win
San Diego Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding hooked a 34-yard field goal around the left upright to give the Chargers a 24-21 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime. The Chiefs won the coin toss in the extra period and took the field for a chance to win. However, Chargers defensive end Luis Castillo bull rushed past Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert and got to quarterback Matt Cassel. The sack resulted in a Cassel fumble that was recovered by linebacker Stephen Cooper and ultimately led to Kaeding’s winning field goal.
Cassel was involved in both of the Chiefs scores in the first half. The first score came on a 11-yard scramble, and he hit Chris Chambers on a 12-yard pass to close out the second quarter. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers hit wide receiver Vincent Jackson on a 53-yard bomb and running back LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for a 4-yard touchdown run to knot up the score at halftime, 14-14. In the second half both teams traded touchdowns with the Chargers scoring on a second Tomlinson touchdown run from 17 yards and the Chiefs scoring on a 1-yard Jamaal Charles run.
