[Chiefs Blog] News of tender offers made by the Chiefs to their restricted free agents is starting to trickle in. The Chiefs offered linebacker Derrick Johnson a one-year contract worth $2.621 million.
Starting at 11 p.m. tonight, Johnson is free to negotiate with other clubs. If he signs an offer sheet with another team, the Chiefs have the right to match that offer. If they decline, the Chiefs are entitled to that team’s first-round draft pick.
Starting right offensive tackle Ryan O’Callaghan was offered a one-year contract worth $1.759 million. O’Callaghan will also be eligible to negotiate with other clubs starting tonight. If he signs an offer, the Chiefs can either match or receive that team’s second-round draft pick.

Seems like a win-win situation.
