[KFFL.com] Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports that the Chiefs will meet with unrestricted free-agent RB Thomas Jones (Jets) on Monday.
Chiefs head coach Todd Haley has said that finding someone to complement Jamaal Charles is a priority. The Chiefs were also reportedly strongly interested in acquiring Darren Sproles until the Chargers tendered him at the first and third round level.
In other news, the Chiefs are also reportedly interested in are interested in unrestricted free-agent DE LeKevin Smith (Broncos).

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the FA visits. I go crazy wondering who we can bring in to contribute. It would be great to get Thomas Jones. One less thing to worry about when the draft comes along.

This is a f-ing joke! I’m sorry, but I can’t take this anymore. Our first free agent is going to be a compliment to Charles… are you kidding me? We can’t afford luxury signings like a complimentary back when we have no safeties, no nose tackle, no o-line, no tight end, 1 suspect WR in Bowe, and need help at LB and CB. I thought we’d make some real additions to help this team, but NOPE! Don’t get me wrong.. Thomas Jones is a good RB and will be a good compliment to Charles, but boy did we miss out on a lot of FA’s to fill so many huge holes on this team. Nice try Chiefs, but one signing of a soon to be 32 year old RB isn’t going to cut it for me. May fool most fans, but not me!

Good god Noah. Have you heard of the draft. The free agent pool is very week this year and no one wants to sign a long term deal when football might not even be played in 2011. It makes complete business sense not to sign an old free agent to a huge multiple year contract when he might miss out on a year of playing anyways. It will take time and give them a chance they can’t fill all positions in 4 days of free agency. Just doesn’t work that way.

I like Thomas Jones, but I don’t think we should have to give a big money contract to a 31 year old RB who is at the tail end of his career. Clark told Pioli and Haley he has his checkbook open. I’m not against having Thomas Jones. I did think we were going to be more bold and go for Carlos Dansby or a free agent of that caliber. But I still trust in the Chiefs. Pioli and Haley will set it up just fine.

I def like this idea. This frees up using a pick with out 1st 5 picks on a RB..Therfore getting 2 Olineman with those picks, WR and possibly SS or ILB/NT..
I think something like this
1) Russel Okung (OT)
2a)Terrence Cody (NT)
2b)Jon Asamoah (G)
3) Darrel Stuckey (S)
4) Jorden Shipley (WR)
5a)Jamar Chaney (ILB)
5b)Myron Lewis (CB)
Undrafted we will take a TE and QB(I like Skelton from Fordham)
But I wont be surprised if KC gives up a 2nd round pick for Atari Bigby…I wouldnt be to bummed on that..However KC should resign Mike Brown.

If — and that is a big If — they sign Jones I doubt it will be more more than a year or two. But I do agree that it will free up a draft pick for more help on the Oline and Dline. They are looking at a NT and trying to resign Chambers.

Peppers and the vet from the titans sound so much sweeter than T. Jones even though like most of you, I like the guy despite his age. He is reliable and take the pressure off Jamal but without the threat of his starting job or at least I would hope. I sure hope our 5 pick is a good one. Okung and Suh sound like a couple mighty fine players. I hope we get one of them in a KC uniform. We need to win in the trenches!

Dan B. I like your draft. I would like Gresham from Oklahoma if he happens to fall to the second round. But overall solid.

JCJ – Yes I’ve heard of the draft, but we have so many holes that the draft alone is not going to help. Rolle, Robinson, and Dansby were in FA and are only 27, 27, and 28 so not sure what you’re talking about when you say the FA is week and nobody wants to sign a long term deal. Rolle and Robinson signed 6 year deals. Dansby signed a 4 year deal. We were also rumored to be trading for 29 year old Boldin who signed a 4 year deal. Before you make stuff up try looking up the facts jack! I know they can’t fill all positions in 4 days, but you do the best you can at trying to fill as many positions as you can. We did nothing. Embarrassing!

You can not expect to come close to being a contender by just relying on the draft like we are apperantly going to do we need immediate help and with a big impact we went a long time before almost replacing Derrick Thomas but we had Jerad Allen and got rid of him for resons I don’t know, now we are looking again, those type of players don’t come around very often at all and ecspecially through the draft. Go get big time players NOW!!!!!!!!!

Ummm, it’s only the second day of free agency. Be patient. For those of you who think we are going to get 6 or 7 big-name free agents, your fooling yourself. Most teams will only pick up 1 or 2 big-name free agents each year anyway.
I think Jones is a good back, but he is old.

Ok that’s all fine and good but when do we get just one, oh maybe tomorrow with a 32 year old RB. Thats gonna help I thought Carl Peterson was gone………

I’ve been a season ticket holder for ten years, but if this team doesn’t show improvement by the start of the season…. I’m out! I’m not paying so much money to watch this team lose 10 games a year. I spend my money on this team, so they need to invest it in some quality players. I’m getting fed up!

Noah look here….. we have the 5th we grab Russell Okung from Oklahoma State, why because protection is a big issue for Scott Pioli, and the addition of Okung would allow Branden Albert to move to left guard, and Brian Waters to slide over to the center position. Three important upgrades for the price of one – sounds like a great deal to me.

Jordan Shipley will be gone by the 4th…. so no need to drink the Koo-Aid

Thats right..Any word on how the Jones visit went today?

JCJ Wow! Relax im frustrated as well but looked back and Im glad the Chiefs did not throw all that money away for Dansby, Pepper, Rolle or anybody. This draft is so deep I have a gut feeling we can get players that are close to that caliber in the draft for much cheeper. I know I know the Chiefs have plenty of money to spend and I dont know why they are holding on to every penny and not spending much! I hope they have a plan but If you do draft research at the safety position I feel there are four to five safeties already better than Rolle, the draft has 3 great ILB, and 3 good corners. They all will be good NFL players that could help us stay younger and save us about 75% of what you would pay Rolle, Robinson, and Dansby. So just relax and the Chiefs will be fine.
