[Houston Chronicle] The Chiefs have lost their first unrestricted free agent.
Offensive lineman Wade Smith has agreed to a four-year, $12 million contract with the Texans.
Smith, a Dallas native, is an eight-year veteran who left Kansas City as an unrestricted free agent. His contract includes $4.25 million in guarantees.
Smith, who started nine games last season and 16 in his two seasons with the Chiefs, visited Buffalo and Arizona before choosing the Texans.

We could have used this guy… he filled in at every position on the line when needed and did admirable. Shame..

Could have used him where, as the holder or waterboy? There’s a reason he got released. He can easily be replaced by someone much better.

Smith is a a replacable player which noone will miss in 2010. Two other Chiefs related signings (which have not been posted on the warpath as of yet) welcome Jerheme Urban (from the Cards) and the departure of Sean Ryan to the Redskins. I think niether of the signings will be a huge impact to the Chiefs in 2010 (unless you consider that we only got Ryan because of T.G. heading to ATL and we atill have nothing n the form of a TE)

Well we could have used him as a backup. Nothing more… I’m sorry its so hard to understand versatility for you guys.

RedNGold4Life…do you think a backu[ lineman with versatility is worth as much money as he’s gonna get in houston cuz i sure dont… he was a very good backup yes..very versatile which is hard to do.. but he is NOT worth that much money to be a starter….he did pretty decent when he was out there..he was nothing great thats for sure….the texans are paying to much for him…no way in hell we should have paid that much money for him.

Wade Smith is not versatile at all lmao. He’s a useless reserve who got his butt beat plenty of times by average D-Lineman. A 5th round pick this year could step in and do worlds better then this guy.
