[Chiefs Blog] The Chiefs added another free agent Tuesday, announcing that they signed wide receiver David Grimes.
The 5-foot-9, 183-pounder played for Kansas City offensive coordinator Charlie Weis for four seasons at Notre Dame. He had 90 catches for 900 yards and seven touchdowns in 45 games.
Grimes was a rookie free agent with Denver in 2009, but he hasn’t played in an NFL game.

A slot receiver maybe? Hope it works out for him.

These small WRs we are getting is all because of Wes Welkers success..Not everyone can be Wes Welker..I dont get it. I mean I would like for it to work out..Its just very rare..

It has nothing to do with Wes Welker, it’s who produces. I’m sure Charlie Weis lobbied for a few of his guys from Notre Dame cause he was their head coach, that’s quite obvious. From what I know, this guy was a major contributor. Can’t hurt to bring him in and give him a look since noone else wants to.

He May have contributed in college, but thats a cupcake league compared to the NFL..Wes Welker in my opinion has given small wideouts hope in the NFL..thats all im saying..getting Grimes isnt a direct connection no, but giving him the tryout that normally is dominated by 6-0ft+ WR is where I was going with that..

i like the fact we are checking out more slot receivers small or big we need help chambers is older bowe needs to catch the ball or 2nd pick will help out and more than likely or slot but past that theres no one we got rid of all or younger receivers we hve a new te to try in the passing game and we will have a new face.this is very good noone will be able to cover us with diffrent options the afc west has had a huge makeover this season so its th first team who gets the right plyers on the same page first wins the division and that will be the red and gold

We need to have a new way of thinking that works for us if everyone keeps the same type of players the system is too easy to pick out so as to mix things up we need to try this and i belive new systems to out think the way football is being played so many teams just follow suit i believe that is what we have done in the past so new coaches new ideas we need to trust them till they prove they cant, I love your site for an old man who has been a chiefs fan since watching Buck and bunch playing town team B-ball all over Kansas who not only couldnt watch the game but no radio time either, nephews give me the dickens for talking 1960′s football.

Weis likes smaller/quick/fast recievers AKA Patten, Givens, Branch, Brown.. He is setting up his recieving corp.
