[KC Chiefs.com] One day after finishing mini-camp, the Chiefs released six players. Among them is running back Kolby Smith, who seemingly had a once-promising future with the Chiefs. Smith concludes his Chiefs career with 540 yards and three touchdowns, most of those coming his rookie season of 2007.

The most noteworthy of the other cuts is quarterback Matt Gutierrez. He was passed during off-season practice on the depth chart by Tyler Palko. His departure leaves the Chiefs with only three quarterbacks: Matt Cassel, Brodie Croyle and Palko.

Also released were offensive linemen Jermail Porter and Nick Landry, tight end Leroy Banks and defensive back Andre Jones.
