Chiefs Re-Sign Safety Jarrad Page

[Kansas City.com] Safety Jarrad Page signed his one-year contract offer today, which could complicate roster decisions because the Chiefs must trim their roster to the NFL regular-season limit of 53 players by today.

The Chiefs could request a roster exemption for Page, a restricted free agent, because he missed all of training camp and the preseason.

It’s unlikely the Chiefs would keep Page, who during training camp went public with his demand for a trade. Since joining the Chiefs, general manager Scott Pioli and coach Todd Haley have expressed an interest in players who are interested in being part of their program.

The Chiefs have also prepared for Page’s imminent departure. They drafted safeties Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis. Berry will start the Sept. 13 regular-season opener against San Diego. Lewis might not be in the lineup right away, but he probably will be a starter at some point this season.

Neither Page nor his agent was available for comment.
