[ESPN.com] Chiefs coach Todd Haley has apologized for refusing to shake hands with Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels after the Chiefs’ blowout loss on Sunday.
After the game, which the Broncos won 49-29, McDaniels ran toward Haley for the traditional handshake. But Haley pulled his hand away and pointed at McDaniels. He said something briefly, obviously angry, and then quickly turned his back.
Haley declined Monday to say why he was upset after the 49-29 loss.
Haley says he probably let the emotions of the situation get to him, adding, “And I apologize. I apologize to the fans and to Denver and to Josh.”
McDaniels’ Monday news conference began with several questions about the exchange and McDaniels said he still had no idea why Haley was upset with him. He said Haley hadn’t called to apologize or elaborate.

I don’t blame Todd one bit…..I was at the game in Denver and I had a dream the night before where the score would be chiefs 24, broncos 63. Sounds strange coming from a chiefs fan but I for one have been to every game in invesco except last season to watch the donkeys kick the ever livin @#$% out of us. No matter what the game plan is or whether we’re a better team the broncos play us like the super bowl! I didn’t even stay to see the mop up yards and touchdowns or the hand shake for that matter, if I would have stayed however, it may have been “unobservable”……weirdest thing I have ever seen especially on a 40 yard touchdown that may have not been a catch. I wonder how much Pat Bowlen payed to have that little blunder go their way.

Sad to say, the ass whoppin isn’t anything new. The Donkeys have done that to us countless times in Denver over the years. Last year when we did it to them in Denver it was a shocker. I just don’t understand what happened to our Defense. It has gone down hill since the Houston game. Even Jacksonville continued to pick up 3 and longs. Buffalo we played well, but then the lowly Raiders burnt us over and over and that was against Flowers.
I think our biggest problem is Matt Cassel’s teenage mustached. It doesn’t instill fear in the defense. LOL.
I’m glad Haley snubbed McCry baby. I can’t wait to play them again.

The problem with the defense is we have no depth and Brandon Carr is maybe average (I said Maybe). Let’s not forget we’re still a young team and we need to learn to win on the road. Maybe the snub at the end of the game will motivate our team next time we play them. I hope it doesn’t backfire and motivate the other team more. It was a bad decision, but he apologized–no big deal.

I thought it was classless when McDaniels beat Belichick last year and went running up and down the field pumping his fist and screaming. I like what Haley did and wish that he didn’t apologize. We need more hatred and strong rivalry in the division like in years past. It seems that we are working our way back to that.
