Charlie Weis’ decision to take a job with the Florida Gators is largely due to the fact that he wants to work with his son, who will matriculate to UF.

Weis’ son was set to work in the football office at the University of Texas under Will Muschamp, but when Muschamp recently took the Florida head coaching job, Charlie Jr. then followed him to Gainesville. Weis Sr. helped to catapult the Chiefs to ninth in total offense after the team ranked 25th in 2009. While Weis’ successor in Kansas City has yet to be determined, a potential suitor whose name has surfaced is former Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels, who has ties to GM Scott Pioli from their days together in New England.

There is no way Brian Schottenhiemer will take another OC job. His next stop is as a Head Coach.

I don’t believe what Chris Mottenson reports. He has been wrong (a lot) before. We will just have to wait and see.

2. AS being to old…55 is not really that bad,but still he wont get a headcoaching position anywhere in the NFL either. Romeo is in his 60′s, as is Tom Coughlin and Wade Philips. Wondering here, Did you think Jarred Allen was to old too? Just making sure this is not Herm Edwards. Actually the only reasoning offered is that they “want to stockpile draft picks.” Well, sure, of course they do. But who doesn’t? That’s like saying that some guy “wants to make a lot of money.” Right, but, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s willing to sell one of his kidneys to do so.

News reporters contacted the Broncos, Raiders, and Chargers for comment, and they all said, “Really? Well, tell the Chiefs we said ‘thanks’.”

subnote on this….Charlie is a awesome OC, and if he is wise, he should stay in the OC position in teh NFL, not degrade down to the NCAA, where he has to teach constantly new recruits his system. He failed IMO at Notra Dame, and this track record is not looking good.

“Cassel was regrouping from surgery and having him run a roll out QB run” Remember this is a appendectamy, we dont know what the severity was, and yes Cassel would have to let the coaches know if he could go. Look at a previous post where I described how serious it can and cannot be, usually a recovery of 1-2 weeks if it did not burst.

“We have alot of young talent that is now starting to click and mesh and produce” – Lets add a new OC to the mix….. wow, can we state rebuild, NO TWO COACHES COACH THE SAME.Cant change the staff like its underwear. Charlie worked, pay him more and see how next year looks.

I would think that there are other programs that are more viable for his tenure. His debut at Notra Dame sealed his action as a HC. In conclusion, why would he turn down a salary range from around $300,000 to close to $1 million, to a salary of 180k to 300k MAX with a combined payroll of 1.9 million only.

Weis is leaning on leaving because…
-He wants to coach college ball not the pros. He may like the atmosphere and life of college football (oddly enough).
-He knows he’s not competent to be a head coach, so being an OC would be the next best thing, something he loves to do and is good at.
-Florida is the best college program out there, so for him to take advantage of this oppurtunity would seem wise…for him.
-Obviously its not because of money but rather ending his career in a fun environment in a program that will get back to the top, as much as i dont like the gaytors and hate saying it.

I dont think he has beef with Haley, who was one of the reasons Weis even came to KC.

Where would it leave us?…
-while i do think weis is an excellent coach, i do not give him sole reason for our success this year. Haley is the reason that Cassel has been so productive.
-I wasnt too impressed with Weis’ play calling, (i.e the game against the Rams where Cassel was regrouping from surgery and having him run a roll out QB run….why would you let him run…I have no clue!)
-We have alot of young talent that is now starting to click and mesh and produce.
-Haley is a natural offensive minded coach.
-Weis is pretty old and doesnt have many years left in him, I wouldnt mind having a younger offensive coach (like Josh Mcdaniels) who knows our system and the AFC west, and will be there a while.
-McDaniels should be more humble now, knowing he has failed as a head coach (this would limit any talks for him to become a headcoach in the future).

All in all, dont fret about this Chiefs fans, Pioli is a wise man who is guiding us to success…i am so excited for our future! i live in Kentucky and people used to laugh at me for being a Chiefs fan. Haha…i’m rubbing it in to them now. GO CHIEFS!!
