[KC Chiefs.com] Matt Cassel is once again filling in for an injured Tom Brady. Reports surfaced out of New England last night that Brady will forgo the 2011 Pro Bowl, opting for surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot. News of Cassel’s promotion as Brady’s Pro Bowl replacement soon followed.
After speaking with the NFL Office on Thursday morning, the Chiefs confirmed that Cassel will join the 2011 AFC Pro Bowl roster.
Cassel’s promotion currently gives the AFC West Champion Chiefs four Pro Bowlers on this year’s AFC squad. The Kansas City quarterback will join teammates Brian Waters, Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe in Hawaii. Kickoff is slated for Sunday, January 30th at 6:00 PM (CST) on FOX.

I have mixed emotions about Matt Cassel this year. He started off the season shaky and ended it in a disappointing manner. It seems he is either on or off. The negative side to this is if an opposing defense shuts down our run, we have to rely on inconsistant qb play. A positive is that Cassel is still inexperienced. Hopefully he takes two steps foward after taking a step back. I went to the playoff game and saw two beautiful passes in the first half thrown to the sideline (tucker and moeaki). Although both passes were caught, the receivers were unable to get both feet down. Cassel is going to need to be put by Todd Haley in the right spot to make plays. You cant expect Cassel to have a good game when he is forced to pass on 3rd and 12.

I never watch the pro bowl but i will this year… We love our chiefs and actually got to drive home happy several times from arrowhead this season, can’t wait til next season…
