The Chiefs have done that with at least one player, defensive end Wallace Gilberry. The Chiefs tendered Gilberry at the second-round level, according to Gilberry’s agent. Under the expiring collective bargaining agreement, this means the Chiefs would get a second-round draft pick if Gilberry signs with another club.

Gilberry was second on the Chiefs behind Tamba Hali with seven sacks last season.
