[KC Chiefs.com] The NFL has awarded 23 teams compensatory draft choices in the 2011 NFL Draft. Kansas City is one of those clubs.

The Chiefs will pick up an additional sixth-round pick this April, selecting at 199th overall (the 34th pick in the sixth round).

The Chiefs were awarded the additional pick after losing versatile offensive lineman Wade Smith to Houston as an unrestricted free agent last off-season. Smith started all 16 games for the Texans in 2010.

Compensatory picks, sandwiched within the third through seventh rounds, are determined by a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires the previous year.
