NFL Investigating Ad Featuring Chiefs Players

[Kansas City.com] The NFL is looking into a possible infringement case after five players – including Chiefs defensive backs Eric Berry and Brandon Flowers – appeared on a flier advertising their appearance at a Miami club’s after-party that also included appearances by porn stars.
Berry and Flowers were pictured in their Chiefs uniforms as two of the hosts for a party at Club Play, a Miami Beach nightclub that held a May 20 party advertised as “the official Miami launch party” for Exxxotica, a three-day, adult-themed expo held last month in Miami.
On Wednesday, the office of Berry’s agent, Chad Speck, issued a statement that said his client wasn’t involved in the party.
“Eric did not attend and had no knowledge of this event,” the statement read, “and he certainly did not approve the use of his name and image in connection with the party.”
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told The Star that the league was looking into the matter, saying “the concern is the fact that players appear in their team uniforms” on the flier.
When asked whether players’ involvement in a party featuring porn stars was also a concern, McCarthy said he would not comment.
He said the league’s legal department would likely send a cease-and-desist letter to the nightclub that used players in their uniforms, which, he said, “usually ends it.”
