Now that the lockout is over, Kansas City Chiefs GM Scott Pioli will be a very busy man. He has a lot to do in a very short amount of time.
Starting on Tuesday, the Chiefs will have a number of things to do. The NFL released a calendar of what’s going down over the next week. Here’s a run down of what to expect:
On Monday (today), the league will release a list of the 2011 free agents.
On Tuesday, team facilities will open at 9:00 a.m. (CST). This means players can report back to the facility and start working with the coaching staff. The Chiefs can also start signing their draft picks and undrafted free agents, and start negotiating with their own and other free agents.
On Thursday, the Chiefs can open training camp. The team hasn’t confirmed yet that this is the official start date but, by rule, they can start on this day.
On Friday, free agency begins at 5:00 p.m. (CST) and the Chiefs, and every other NFL team, can start signing their own free agents as well as other teams’ free agents.
