[Kansas City.com] Chiefs safety Eric Berry will miss the rest of the 2011 season after tearing his ACL in Kansas City’s Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Berry, selected fifth overall by the Chiefs in the 2010 draft, was named to the Pro Bowl in his rookie season after registering 92 tackles and four interceptions.

Why the hell not?!! This season will be down the crapper anyway!!! 5-11 season here we come!!!!!

5 Wins? I’m really struggling to see 5 wins with the way this group played yesterday.

Ouch. Law of averages. We didn’t have very many injuries last year, this year we play catch up. I knew it was over when I saw the replay. I notice Haley took responsibility for not preparing the team. At least that is better than his predecessor, who never took responsibility for anything.

I am a chiefs fan living in Louisville KY, and I am saddened to see how much negative spirit comes from Chiefs fans around Kansas City. It seems like they are never happy with any decision the coaches or players make. yes this injury sucks, it ruined my day, and the loss yesterday was embarrassing, but the players and coaches see that as well, they dont need our negative attitudes on top of that.

Hey Bernard I know what you mean I hate it when people get too negative too, but on the other hand a lot of us have been Chiefs fans for a looong time and all we have seen for the past 20 years is a lot of no post season seasons and a few post seasons that we just got a sniff of because we lose the first play off game everytime and most of the time it’s at Arrowhead. It is getting ridiculous and we (the fans) deserve better. I love my CHIEFS!, but damn it I want results! I have put a lot of money and support into this team and so have a few 100,000 others with ticket prices, beer prices, merchandise, etc. and we keep getting disappointed and embarrassed. It’s frustrating because we can’t shut the mouths of those that disrespect the KC Chiefs. Chiefs ’till I die.

I for one am sick and tired of the Chiefs performance. Where do you start? At the top with ownership? Pioli? Haley/coaches? Players? I think all of the above. In this day and age (with salary cap) fans want to see at least a COMPETITIVE team on the field. What I have seen is this team couldn’t beat a 5A high school team! WTF????? I bleed red n gold, just freakin tired of the dreck they put on the field….it will be a long season.
How many fans really think this is a 10-6 division winning team?
Oh, by the way coach my dick hurts.

I hear you Bernard. I am constantly trying to defend players and coaches on several sites like this one. I became a fan in 1969 and will stay that way forever. I understand frustration of the fans, we all want to win. I think most fans just need to vent every once in a while and sites like this one offer an opportunity to do that. Even I like to do that occassionally. But on Sundays we’ll all be rooting for them.
Last year we played everyone way too close for me to believe we would have a better year this season. You can’t just fix a team in one year. Many are shouting for a new QB. It would be nice if there was a Tom Brady store or Payton Manning store and we could go pick one of those up. The fact is there aren’t very many opportunities to get a QB of that caliber and when that opportunity arrives, you have to be in the right place in the draft order. I think our QB plays well enough. You have to take into account the skill of your O line and WR when evaluating your QB. There just weren’t any alternatives in the past couple years to improve our QB situation. In free agency, you are getting a player that other teams don’t want. Fans should realize they shouldn’t expect more out of that player than their old team got, you can only hope that your system will make them better. Detroit is a much better team than Buffalo, but I believe today that we can beat them. Go Chiefs!!

Hey guys,
Yea I hear what you all are saying, sounds like most of you on here are fans who are realistic and yet hopeful. I didnt wanna come off as harsh, but I just get irritated when all I read is negative comments with no hope whatsoever. ALl that said, we did look horrible sunday. We looked like we never played football before. The upside however is we made mistakes that are easily fixable, like HOLD ON TO THE BALL!! Cassell however worried me, he looked like Damon Huard did the first time he took the field when Trent Green went down against the Bengals (which was at home as well). Cassell looked out of sync and clueless. I dont know who’s to blame here. I am not too quick to say Haley needs to be fired, or that Pioli is a moron. I think Pioli is a beast and the right man in charge. I am starting to get a little concerned about Haley, but I love that man’s intensity. Last year was kind of a fluke in my opinion, considering the weakness of our schedule. This year our schedule is insanely difficult and unless our showing against the Bills was a complete FLUKE, we are in trouble. I have been so excited in the offseason for the Chiefs. Gosh I hope we dont suck. I’ve been a fan since Montana, I was 10, so I dont remember much, and its sad to say that I have never seen us win a playoff game
Lets keep the faith guys! Our offense does have alot of weapons, we just need to get them the ball LOL! Cant wait til sunday! I’ll be at Buffalo Wild Wings with my Chiefs jersey on, and the only Chiefs fan in the building (as usual). :-/ I would wear my Eric Berry jersey, but that just hurts too much :’( Gosh it sucks so bad losing him!!!

I am not a fair-weather fan…God knows I have defended those boys for almost 20 years. However, with that being said, Sunday was disgusting…I can’t even defend it…I, for once, am at a loss for words…New offensive coordinator? Cassel nervous about getting hit? Well, are defense will surely get some turnovers for us which will turn into points, right? They’re beasts, Romeo has them prepared. No? What the hell is goin on???Hmmmm…to compound the disgust and embarrassment I felt, I could only reflect on the lengthy email I had sent to Mike and Mike about how Greenie had called the Chiefs a “fluke” last year and I had made a case as to why they were not……I am an ass…I clearly don’t know my ass from a hole in the ground…
PS Brian Waters leaving clearly hurt worse than I was prepared for…and to make it EVEN worse…he is now protecting Tom (frickin’) Brady and doing a hell of a job. Lovely…Man Of The Year…can’t wait till that Monday Night Game in New England for the entire nation to see…it might be worse than the hurtin’ they put on the Jets last year and that was BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. And the league was so gracious to give us two Monday Night Games this year, when they blow @#%s, we won’t have anymore primetime game for YEARS…once they take them away from you, you don’t get them back for a LONGGGGG motha truckin’ time…remember how long we went without a primetime game this past decade??? Guys, help me out here…I haven’t been able to watch any post-game conferences, anything by Todd Haley (who better not have a job after this year if we don’t at least go 500) or Matt Cassel (who I have defended…but, am wondering if he is the best QB for us, sorry, not a hater, just thinkin’…I thought Palko did a fine job in pre-season)…I can’t even think about them without almost throwing-up in my mouth…sorry, but that’s where I’m at. I mean, it’s Friday and I’m finally able to talk about Sunday’s game. I don’t think Pioli’s to blame though, he has brought us all this talent…I just don’t know WTF is going on?!?!? The offensive calling sit’n is a problem though, right?!? Help me out guys…I bleed red, but, I’m down for the first time in a long time. I didn’t even feel this bad in the Herm years b/c I knew we were lacking talent. But, that’s not the case now, right??
