You find a great QB in the same three places you find great players at every other position: draft, free agency, or trade. If you're going to draft for one (usually the best way to get one), you pick the best one available at the time of your first pick. Here are a few names of 1st round QBs that weren't taken in the top 10: Rodgers, Flacco, Roethlisberger, and Cutler. You can't wait until some other juncture to address the problem just because you weren't picking first overall.

As for Flacco, I hear this slander of him all the time. The Ravens have had that same defense forever. If that defense is good enough to go deep in the playoffs without a good QB, why weren't they getting in every year before Flacco was there?

IMO, the reason once backup to Palko, Flacco has playoff wins and Ryan doesn't is the defense for Baltimore. Cassel could have won those games with that Defense. I think Cassel is equal in skill to both those players.
I would rank both ahead of Cassel but they would all be within 5 rankings of each other.

The Chiefs were a blocked FG away from the playoffs this year. Crennel mentioned getting some competition for Cassel this year. I believe we have two opportunities to improve at QB, one is to go after Peyton Manning and the other is to re-sign Orton. There just aren't any other options out there. Manning would be a questionable pickup, because his health is unknown, I don't believe we will even consider this option. Orton, would be just a slight improvement over Cassel. I think Crennel likes Orton and this may happen. Orton would be within 5 rankings of those mentioned above too. His career stats are nearly identical to Cassels.

Every year at this time, Chiefs fans complain about getting a great QB and my question to them is "WHERE" do you find a HOF or great QB at? We aren't in position in the draft to get either of the top two guys this year. Brady, Brees, Rapistburger, E. Manning are all taken
