His pay may have been high last year, but he will make 7 million less this year and currently is 14th highest paid QB ($5.5million). I’m thinking if Manning signs with Tenn, Hasselback will be available–either cut or traded. Other than that, there aren’t many QBs left to compete with him. I agree we need to improve the OLine.

Orton is NOT the answer. Same stats as Cassell without the toughness and not as many the wins. Cassell is not an elite QB but is a good one. Think for a minute guys. 3 OC’c in 3 years. This year will make 4. Plus he had Haley changing the plays at the last minute. He either had no time or very little to call audibles or look over the defense. How many times did you see Cassell looking over at the sideline smacking his helmet trying to get a play in? How many offensive timeouts did we have to take? Plus, how many times did he have to scramble befroe he could even drop back and set up? I say sign Winston, maybe another guard or center. Draft a nose tackle or a middle linebacker to pair with DJ. Do that and get our injured stars back and we win the West.

I agree with Chris. BS excuses that Clark will say why he didn’t bring in players. If we as fans revolt and don’t buy tickets, that will force them to do something.

I know Hillis has some history with poor effort, but with a one year deal he will want to play hard. He was 3rd or 4th best RB available in free agency and the others will probably end up with their former team. So I will say it was pretty good. It is an upgrade and that is what we’re looking for. Hope we’re not done. I am curious to see where this QB competition is going to come from.

If Kevin boss does not come in, I would NOT mind seeing Dallas Clark come in. U can never go wrong with having 2 great Tight Ends. I mean, look at New England. And you never know, if its not too late, that could get Manning’s attention. And get the line addressed as well.

From my understanding, KC wanted to bring back Kyle Orton, but he was not interested. Why, I have no idea. He rather go to the Cowboys and be a back up to Romo, when he could have competed for a starting job, and more than likely won it. Maybe Cassel used some of that money he got from that huge contract he got that he is not even work more than half of, to pay off Orton to get out of KC so he wouldn’t take his job lol. I did like that RB pick up. I liked Tolbert as well, but Im guessing Hillis still knows Daboll’s system. I wonder what other QB is out there to compete with Cassel? I hope we dont draft Weeden or Tannehill. We need to bring in Winston to fill that RT spot and still draft a Tackle as well. Or if they fill the position, like I said earlier,draft a Nose Tackle. The front office needs to start making more moves NOW before all the top FA are gone. We saw within the first 2 days of FA, the top dogs are gone. I would love to see Mario Williams come to KC, because we need one more strong pass rusher to compliment Hali. Houston is not bad, and came a long at the end of the year, but Williams is a NO BRAINER. Show me something Pioli.

I dont understand how you pick up Hillis over Tolbert at all. Both were in for a visit. Tolbert is a beast……and plays every game. I love the chiefs, but I feel like I’m starting to watch the Royals with pads on thanks to the ownership. Is David Glass running the Chiefs or what? How do you let Carr go? Kind of like the Royals, draft and develop a great young talent……..then let them go for nothing so you dont have to pay them. We have a ton of cap space and have done absolutly nothing to address some serious problems. QB is #1. Orton showed what can be done with this offence in three games. Cassell cant even compare. Muir leaving should be a good thing, but imagine that, we went out and got a no name OC that every other team couldnt get rid of fast enough instead of getting a legitimate leader. They better get the O line fixed and get a pass rusher to help Tamba. I’m losing all respect for Clark Hunt or Scott Pioli and I think most knowledgeable Chiefs fans are feeling similar.

ive been a chiefs fan for almost 20 years now seen good and bad years….i live in ohio and have seen hillis play and he is a beast and would take alot of attention off the pass game for cassell to get back in a flow with bowe and boldwin i say good move lets make a run for the superbowl……………GOCHIEFS

Ok I am sick and tired of this front office not taking advantage of our salary cap room. First we are out of the Peyton Manning picture, we know we need OL help, Carl Nicks is gone, Brandon Carr is a goner, who is our back up QB, and we need another pass rusher. I am sick of this ownership taking advantage of our fan base. We have been there to support this team for decades, and sold out how many games? GET US PLAYERS SO WE CAN GO TO A SUPER BOWL ALREADY!! It has been too long. Oh and when I say get some players, it is plural, not just one semi big name Clark like Hillis.
BTW I wanted Tolbert over Hillis.

To Leto, I’m glad to see you realize how bad our RB situation was and Hillis is a beast. We have the potential to have two of the top ten backs in the league. Also, I share your frustration at QB as well. However, there are very few franchise QBs in the league. Do you want to give up five picks to take a chance on Luck or RG3. Roll the dice on a QB like Manning who is one good hit from retirement? There are not that many good options. I’m not a fan of Cassel but he did help us win a division. Now, with our running game and more experienced defense, we could make a good run at least.

Ok so I read back at a previous post that I asked about this situation in, and I kind of understand now. I don’t see why we don’t give Battle more of a chance at the 2nd slot with JC, but Hillis could work out as well. I just feel like we have a serious issue in our QB department that needs to be dealt with as soon as possible. If anyone has read any of my posts at all, they know by now that I am not a Matt Cassel fan, lol. But I’ll back the guy as long as he’s our starter…..

I don’t really understand this move picking up Hillis. Was he really needed? I mean, I just don’t really see the need but if someone could explain to me why this was a good move I’m all ears.

I don’t think we can afford to take a chance on Flynn. Last I heard he was wanting a lot of money and I really don’t think we should put ourselves in the same situation we’ve been in with Cassel….

Overall I feel like we need to bring in a solid veteran QB and then draft for the line. Our Defense as a whole is pretty solid and our WR core is good for once. I’m pretty excited for this coming season, I’m just tired of watching Cassel scrub it up on the field game after game. The O-line may need work, but no amount of work is going to make Cassel our best bet.

Huge signing! Now, Winston and Boss will make it a great week. Along with the Routt signing, we are off to a solid start. Now, I’m curious about the QB situation. We let Orton and Palko go and assuming Cassel and Stanzi are still here. Do we bring in a vet or draft a QB? Anybody want to take a chance on Flynn? Russell Wilson? Although I don’t want him, will Peyton come here if we continue to add quality?
