[KC Chiefs.com] The Chiefs signed their second offensive player in as many days Thursday when they agreed to terms on a three-year, $9 million contract with tight end Kevin Boss.
The Chiefs met with former San Diego running back Mike Tolbert on Thursday, but he was to leave Kansas City without a contract.
Boss, who played four seasons for the Giants before joining the Raiders last season, joins former Cleveland running back Peyton Hillis as a recent free-agent signing.
Boss, 27, was released by the Raiders this week. He caught 28 passes and three touchdowns last year, his only season in Oakland.
He previously played four seasons for the Giants, catching a total of 119 passes.

Josh is right about locking up Winston. Also, I hear all the negative talk about the offseason and are beloved Chiefs. When the season ended, we had 7 major holes to fill in my opinion (RB, Corner (knowing Carr wanted too much money), DT, TE, DE (pass rusher), RT and a QB to battle our starter). We have already filled three of those holes in less than a week of free agency with Routt, Hillis and Boss. Our front office is not overpaying and is adding quality players, unlike the Bills with that ridiculous contract for Mario Williams. We need to lock up Winston than go after a D-Lineman. We could easily get to the draft and only have 1 or 2 needs which means we can add depth which is huge in this league. Pioli built a dynasty in N.E. and I believe we will be one soon. I have suffered since 1984 too and it’s time for all of us to start believing.

Patience is a virtue ChiefsNation!!! Finally our front office is making logical and smart moves by building key pieces and for a hella bargain. Its smart signing Hillis to a 1 year 3 million contract if hes a bust then one year hes gone. Boss is a great fit. Double threat at TE and our running game. Fill OLine needs thru the rest of Free agency and Draft Instant playmakers through the Draft and we can all get very excited about 2012 and beyond !!!!!!!!!

Five teams are going after Winston hard so we may have to slightly over pay for Winston but we got to get it done. If we overpay for 1 out of 4 to 6 free agents, I think we can live with that. Next, I say we go after a 3rd Raider. Kamerion Wimbley is a upcoming DE with 16 sacks in the last 2 years and a stud against the run. DT free agents are very thin at this time. What do people think about this DT, Dontari from Memphis?

CHIEFS SIGN WINSTON AND QUINN

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs agreed to contracts with veteran offensive tackle Eric Winston and quarterback Brady Quinn on Saturday.
Winston was released by the Houston Texas on Monday in a surprising move that saved the team about $4.5 million against the salary cap. He had started every game he played in over the past five seasons at right tackle.

I really like the DT from Memphis. He has been getting a lot of peoples attention at the combine. He is rated the number 1 DT in the draft. I really think he would help plug up the middle for us. More like a Wilfork in NE. I think Pioli knows thats too.
