With the 11th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected defensive tackle Dontari Poe from the University of Memphis.

Poe (6’3″, 350) was a second-team All-Conference USA selection after finishing with 33 tackles – eight for loss – and one sack in 2011. He started all of Memphis’ 24 games the last two seasons. Poe also made the C-USA all-freshman team in 2009 and was an honorable mention all-conference selection in 2010.

Poe put up a spectacular showing at the NFL scouting combine where despite his imposing size, he was able to run the 40-yard dash in an official time of 4.98 seconds, with some claiming his unofficial time was 4.87 seconds. Additionally, he put up 44 reps at 225 pounds in the bench press, the most of any prospect who attended the combine.
