[Kansas City.com] The Chiefs announced the signing of veteran safety Abram Elam this morning. Details of the contract were not released.
The unrestricted free agent started 16 games for the Cowboys last season and has made 64 career starts over his six-year NFL career.
The Chiefs had been using some odd combinations at safety, so they may try to get Elam worked into the mix as soon as possible.
Great pick up with all of our safety injuries. He will start or add depth at worse. We are becoming a deep football team and that’s HUGE!

Man It keeps getting better and better as we approach the season. We are truly adding depth at every position. I know a lot of you won’t agree with me on this but letting carr go and picking up Routt was a very wise move. I only remeber carr having one true dominate game against denever at home back in 2010 besides that I was never really impressed with him. And I am not impressed with kendrick Lewis except for his rookie year against Green Bay in a pre season game agaianst Green Bay but other than that i think he is overrated as hell and Elam will take his spot. Our Secondary will be Berry, Elam, Flowers and Routt. I feel that is an excellent core of players. Kinda reminds me of the old days when we had Albert Lewis,Burress, Kevin ross and Derron Cherry. We going to be Nice on D this year and well hell honestly both sides of the ball if Matt Cassel can step up and prove he is worth all the money we have paid him thus far!! Our front when the season starts will be Poe,Dorsey and Gordan. Jackson is a bust and on his way out the door. Hali, DJ and Houston are a nice group of LBs and i am really biased becuz Im a Chiefs fan but honestly the nation (ESPN i.e NFL Network) better start reconizing the talent that we got cuz although manning is taking all the attention in the AFC West right now We are goin to steal the sunshine. KC CHIEFS AFC WEST CHAMPS 2012!!!! And finally with Crennel as the helm we get our firts playoff win since ’93-’94. I feel so on fore for the team this season. A long awaited feeling for all of us Chiefs fans whom have been patiently waiting for our loyality to finally pay off!!!!! I love it !!!! can’t wait!!!!
