The Chiefs ruled Matt Cassel out of Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers in Tampa because of a concussion.
Brady Quinn will start instead at quarterback and Ricky Stanzi will be his backup.
Don’t look for the Chiefs to change much of what they do offensively because of the quarterback change. They will again rely heavily on their running game, though maybe not to the extent they did in last week’s game. They Chiefs tried 51 running plays and 17 passes against the Ravens last week.
Coach Romeo Crennel said Cassel and Quinn have similar skill sets.
“They both can throw the ball,’’ Crennel said. “They’re both tall quarterbacks. They’re both experienced. The thing that Matt has is more game time. That’s the biggest difference.”

get well soon Matt, it’s your turn to shine Quinn

We just need a decent head coach. First we get Edwards who destroyed the Jets then destroyed KC. Then we get an unproven in Haley. And now Crennel, who was bad with the browns and is now bad with the chiefs. Hopefully Hunt who was being nice to the players and hired Crennel will get some kahona’s and dump Crennel and move on.

I couldn’t believe the Chiefs hired Edwards after his tenure in New York.
Quinn hasn’t played in a long time, and I’m sure that’s partly why he didn’t do well, but after four years at Notre Dame, I didn’t think he was never worthy of a number one pick, and I never thought he would be a starter in the NFL. His stats were impressive, but every bowl would show ND was a house of cards.
I don’t expect him to improve too much with time.
