[Kansas City.com] Brady Quinn will start at quarterback instead of Matt Cassel in the Chiefs’ game Sunday against Oakland at Arrowhead Stadium.
Coach Romeo Crennel cited the need to shake up the 1-5 Chiefs in making the change.
“Probably the most impactful move I could make to get everybody’s attention was to change the quarterback,” Crennel said Monday.
“I’m not saying Matt Cassel is the reason we are where we are. The stroke of that brush is a broad stroke and everybody is included in it. We’re trying to make this better, get this better. We need to coach better, we need to play better. If we do those things, then we can be better.
“My biggest deal was my gut (feeling) in telling me that I needed to impact the team by changing the dynamic, by having a different dynamic. Brady Quinn is the guy I want to go with.”
Crennel indicated the move was not just for Sunday’s game against the Raiders.
“I want (Quinn) to be the starting quarterback without having to look over his shoulder,” Crennel said. “There’s going to be no quick hook or anything like that.”

Well it’s the best they got!!!. The problem is not Cassel it is this organization and it’s willingness to be satisfied with mediocrity. There is no sense of urgency to win or be a contender. It is a slap in the face, year after year, to the Chiefs Nation when we pay a lot of money to attend a game and this is the best product they can provide. This fan base wants to stay loyal, we don’t want to be complaining at every corner about the state of this team. I just wish this organization cared about us.

Listen I have never been a huge fan of Cassel – especially giving him a huge contract but he is not the sole reason for this 1-5 start. Romeo needs to show a little more emotion at the press conferences instead of the same old “Fix the Problems” BS. I also believe that Daboll needs to take off the handcuffs of whoever QB’s and spread the field – we have too much talent that is not being used.
