[CBS Sports] A Kansas City Chiefs player fatally shot himself Saturday morning, according to Kansas City, Mo., police. A team source told CBSSports.com that linebacker Jovan Belcher was involved in a shooting at the Chiefs’ practice facility.
Kansas City police supervisor Andrea Khan could not identify the player but said the first shooting happened in a Kansas City, Mo., neighborhood and the second happened at Arrowhead Stadium, about five miles away, at about 8 a.m. Saturday.
The Chiefs are scheduled to host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Panthers interim general manager said the league has told the team to travel to Kansas City as scheduled, according to the Charlotte Observer.
The Chiefs issued a statement that said, “We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning. We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation.”

The Kansas City Star is reporting that police have said the player shot his girlfriend multiple times around 8 a.m. at a home in the 5400 block of Crysler Avenue in Kansas City. The woman’s mother was present at the time and witnessed the incident.
The player then left the scene and went to the Chiefs practice facility at Arrowhead. After a confrontation with team personnel, in which they attempted to stop the player from committing additional acts of violence, he shot himself. Police heard the single gunshot as they arrived at the scene.

It has now been confirmed that Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher this morning shot and killed his girlfriend before going to Arrowhead Stadium and fatally shooting himself as team personnel tried to stop him, police said.

The Kansas City Star is reporting that according to a friend of Kasandra Perkins, the woman killed today by Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, the couple argued in the early morning hours after the woman was out late attending Friday’s Trey Songz concert at The Midland.

Its okay if you kill yourself but why did you have to be selfish and take someone elses life?? now you have a daughter without any parents… hope it was worth it Jovon Belcher cause in my opinion that was stupid!!!

Since my Seahawks are so wounded and suck so badly right now, I am tnakig pleasure in other teams’ losses!The Boys loss made me quite happy.
Now if only the Giants would lose, lose, lose!! And the Steelers! And the Patriots! And…and…
