[KC Chiefs.com] Five Chiefs players have been named to the 2013 NFL Pro Bowl which will be played on Sunday, January 27th. They include:

RB Jamaal Charles
LB Tamba Hali
LB Derrick Johnson
SS Eric Berry
P Dustin Colquitt

RB Jamaal Charles will be making his second Pro Bowl appearance, this one coming just a year after suffering an ACL injury that wiped out most of his 2011 season. Charles came back better than ever this year, and with one game left to play he leads the AFC in rushing with 1,456 yards.

LB Tamba Hali will be making his second straight Pro Bowl appearance and has been named a starter this year. He has recorded 9.0 sacks to go with 49 tackles, and 14 QB pressures.

LB Derrick Johnson will also be making his second straight Pro Bowl appearance and he leads the Chiefs in tackles for the third straight season with 119 heading into the final week of the season. Last year he set the franchise’s single-season tackle record with 179.

SS Eric Berry, like Charles, is also returning to the Pro Bowl after missing most of last season due to an ACL injury. This season he has recorded 80 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss, one interception and 10 passes defensed. He has been named a Pro Bowl starter.

P Dustin Colquitt will be making his first Pro Bowl appearance. This year he set a single-season franchise record with 42 punts inside the 20-yard line heading into Week 17 and is now tied for second place in NFL history for most punts inside the 20-yard line in a single season. To go along with his 42 punts inside the 20 he has only seven touchbacks and has a season-long punt of 71 yards.

    1. Charles had like 5 fumbles this year, but still deserves it. His ypc for his career are off the chart. Hali was outplayed by Houston. DJ had good year, but down from last year–he deserves it though. Berry was just ok, he got killed by good TEs. Colquitt is the man. The man with the leg that is probably about to fall off, he punted so much this year. He doesnt have the distance of some, but he was a sharp-shooter. Congrats to all of them.
I’m trying to figure out how we had 5 probowlers and only won 2 games. I guess that indicates a coaching problem. Turnovers and penalties are signs of an undisciplined team and that is a coach issue. Nice guys finish last!

    2. Interesting thoughts Jeff. I thought we had about 4 or 5 deserving players, but was really only expecting to have 1 or 2 based on our record. Berry surprised me, like you said, he got abused by good TE’s this year. Colquitt has been deserving for several years so it’s good to see him get some recognition. I thought Houston was deserving as well.
