[KC Chiefs.com] Romeo Crennel’s tenure as head coach of the Chiefs has ended after just one season.

Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt announced Monday that Crennel, 65, was fired one day after the end of a 2-14 season that matched the worst record in the 53-year history of the franchise.

Hunt said he has yet to make a final determination on the future of general manager Scott Pioli, who has been under scrutiny for the Chiefs’ 23-41 record for the past four years, and it will be Hunt who will immediately begin the search for a new head coach.

“I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Romeo, both personally and professionally,” Hunt said in a statement. “He is an accomplished coach, a man of great character and he helped guide our football team through some extremely challenging circumstances this season.”
