[Kansas City.com] One name is apparently off the board in the Chiefs’ search for a new head coach, but another big name has emerged.
The Chiefs will meet with fired Eagles coach Andy Reid today in Philadelphia before he heads to Arizona to interview for the Cardinals’ head coaching job, according to ESPN.
But Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter reportedly won’t be coming to Kansas City. According to Fox Sports, Koetter decided to sign an extension with the Falcons after meeting with Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt and general manager Scott Pioli on Tuesday.
The Chiefs also reportedly interviewed Falcons special teams coach Keith Armstrong, who is African-American and whose interview would satisfy the NFL’s “Rooney Rule” that requires one minority candidate to be considered for head coaching jobs.
