Chiefs Introduce Reid as Head Coach

[Kansas City.com] Flanked by chairman and CEO Clark Hunt, Andy Reid met the media at Arrowhead Stadium this afternoon and said he’s ready to get to work as the franchise’s 13th head coach.

“I’m ready to go,” Reid said. “This (coaching) is what I do.”

Reid, fired by the Philadelphia Eagles a week ago today after a decade and a half with that team, was hired by Hunt Friday to succeed Romeo Crennel, who he fired the same day Reid was dismissed.

Today, Reid talked of priorities he faces in Kansas City, including getting to know current members of the coaching staff and deciding who stays and who goes. He said he’s already met with many of them, and that some will stay on.

But the first order of business is to hire a general manager to succeed Scott Pioli. Reid said that responsibility lies with Hunt. Hunt, in turn, said interviews will continue over the coming days.

Hunt sat at Reid’s side after introducing the new coach, who was brought aboard after a nine-hour interview last week in Philadephia.

“We are thrilled to welcome Andy to the Chiefs family,” Hunt said. “Throughout his career, Andy has established himself as one of the finest coaches in the National Football League. His integrity, knowledge of the game, work ethic and outstanding abilities as a teacher and communicator make him the ideal head coach to lead the Chiefs for many years to come.”
