[Kansas City.com] The Chiefs have been mostly lifeless in the kicking game, so in hopes of significant improvement coach Andy Reid hired Dave Toub, who has a reputation as one of the better special teams coaches in the league.

Reid also filled most of the other remaining holes on his coaching staff. He retained two coaches off the Romeo Crennel’s staff. Gary Gibbs will continue to coach the linebackers and Emmitt Thomas will again coach the defensive backs.

The remaining coaching gap is on the offensive line. Reid initially wanted George Warhop, but he instead will remain with the Cleveland Browns. Former Miami head coach and Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano interviewed for the job this week.

The Chiefs did hire Eugene Chung as assistant offensive line coach.
